How to lube and seal the bread machine shaft assembly

push the little black button at the front bottom right on the bowl and lift the bowl front and pull it towards you to remove. pull the auger off and the shaft seal is the opaque cup-shaped seal between the auger and the barrel on the shaft. lube new seal with food safe lubricant (i.e. superlube), lube the large rear bowl seal as well and reassemble.

Lubricating the Pan Shaft with Lock-Ease:

Remove the bread pan insert and place it upside-down. Apply Lock-Ease to the top of the pan's coupler. Gently rock and rotate the coupler to allow for penetration. Repeat 3 times. Allow to air-dry 1 hour. Wipe away any remaining residue.

Lubricating the Wheel Shaft with Lock-Ease:

Access the electric motor/drive wheel platform. Check that the screws securing the electric motor to the platform are good and tight. Do not lube the electric motor.

Hi..That assembly is part of the sealed bearing in the bottom of the pan. That sealed bearing allows the shaft and paddle to turn freely. Unfortunately Regal stopped making bread machines and parts several years ago so the chances of you finding a replacement is rare. Hank

Hi, The "axle" shaft fits into a sealed bearing that allows the shaft to turn smoothly. This sealed bearing is filled with a lubricant to "oil" the bearing. Over time the bearing stiffens up and the lube leaks out or gels up. Keep an eye out for any lube leaking out. Fill the pan with warm water to see if it loosens up. Do this a few times. When the bearing does fail you will need a new bread pan. Hank

The sealed bearing that you are referring to is an assembly that is spot welded as a unit to the bottom of the bread pan. The items in this assembly can not be replaced. Yo need a new bread pan. Sorry Hank

Take out the bread pan and go to a kneading cycle. See if it is squeaking. If yes, then it could be the belt squeaking on the pulley or the motor itself. If it does not squeak when the pan is out, then it's the bread pan paddle and sealed bearing. That sealed bearing is lubed and sealed. It can't be oiled. Hank

Not quite sure what you mean about rotating shaft, but if you take the bread pan out of the machine and try to turn the paddle by hand and it doesn't move, then the sealed bearing in the bread pan is jammed or broken. Try filling it up with warm water and soaking it for a while. If it doesn't budge after a few tries then the bearing is broken and a new bread pan is needed. If on the other hand it does move, keep the pan out and start a kneading cycle. Look through the lid window and check to see if the motor shaft is turning. If not then the belt inside the machine is snapped, or fell off, or the motor is broken. Good Luck...Hank

your pan is not locked in

I had this problem after I took mine apart to clean it.  Never saw such a part, and it is unlikely that it fell out as there is a specially shaped washer/gasket at the top of the assembly.  I tried to remove this gasket to get at where I thought the part would be, but the rubber gasket crumbled (possibly the dishwasher machine's fault, or perhaps just age).  Inside was definitely no C-washer or other such part I would expect to mate with the notch on the shaft and hold it all in.  My suspicion is the specially shaped rubber gasket performed this function in addition to sealing the bottom of the pan.  My solution?  I got a C-washer from Lowe's Hardware (for about 88 cents) and put around the upper notch on the shaft, then lowered the shaft into the pan, and finished putting together the shaft assembly on the bottom.  You can also add a washer of some sort to replace the gasket, but I didn't (I am used to a poorly sealed pan from my previous bread machine).  Works great now, though I recommend lubricating the shaft assembly occasionally with Pam or some other baking-temperature lubricating cooking spray.  Good luck!
