I have a Polaris PB4 booster pump, installed late July 2006, vacuum was running for an hour tonight but I noticed it wasn't moving across bottom of pool normally--wheel was skipping. I shut things down and noticed the rubber tire partially slipped off the wheel and was jamming against side--hence the skipping rotation of the wheel. After fixing tire, I then went to turn on pump again and got an electrical humming sound, but pump not doing anything mechanically and not pumping water. The side of booster pump was pretty warm. I shut off the pump and turned it on again and got nothing--no humming or anything. I tried again later, got the humming but then heard a click and it went silent again. Please advise, thanks!

The click is the internal thermal overload. Since the pump wouldn't start it overloaded and opened the circuit. Either there is something jammed in the impelller locking the pump up or you have a motor problem. IF it a capacitor start motor, you could have a bad capacitor. Or if it has a starting switch it may not be operating. Start off and be sure the motor turns freely. If you replace capacitor be sure it is same voltage and MFD as the old.Check all wiring connections.

I have a pb4 polaris booster pump that doesn't seem to put out enough pressure to run the pool sweep.

Check your in line screen and wall fitting to make sure they are right. Sometimes the over pressure button on the wall fitting will blow out.

Also, your local pool store should have a pressure stick they will lend you. It connects the end of the hose where the Polaris would be. You should be getting a least 28 psi. If you are getting less, you may have a clog in the booster pump's impeller. If you have that or more, the problem is internal to the Polaris. Verify that the backup valve is working properly as well.

My pb4 booster pump is leaking from the booster pump bracket and making a ''whining'' noise when turned on????

Replacing the pumps mechanical seal should fix the leak. The whinning may be from bearing damage due to the leak. If you are unsure how to fix it, try a local electric motor repair shop. We charge about $55 - $60 for that seal and bearings installed.

Polaris booster pump overheats and trips the breaker

The motor may be repairable. Check with local electric motor repair shops in your area. The motor may need to be replaced though and if so, we sell it at www.arrowmotor.net
