I have an LG LHD45EL dehumidifier. The manual shows removing the front grille to clean the coil by placing a hand on each side and pulling toward you. Mine won't budge and I'm afraid to pry the plastic in fear of breaking it. Any suggestions?

There are two small tabs (one on either side of plastic cover, roughly half way down). I used a flat head screw driver and gently pried it. Very little pressure needed. There admire two smaller tabs on the top that hold it on as well. Was able to vacuum off coils.

I have the exact problem with my LG LHD45EL as lubbock51's Aug 17, 2010 question. (see below) Isn't there anyone out there that's had this same problem and resolved it. I too am afraid to pry the grill for fear of breaking it...it made out of plastic so it won't take much to break the grill if I did.

How do I get to the air filter in order to clean it ??

To remove the filter. remove the water bucket. Then looh at the top of the water bucket cavity. You will see a small plastic pull type handle. This is the plastic frame for the air intake filter. Pull it down to remove frame and the filter. After washing an rinsing the filter, be sire it's completely dry, before installing it. Be sure you have turned the unit OFF and unplugged it before removing the filter.

How do you get the front grill off?

Remove water collection bucket. Remove two screws now visible (previously covered by top edge of bucket). Front panel now has to be flexed a bit on the side to release it from the metal side panels, near the lower portion of the front panel, then panel swings up and un-hooks from top.

This summer I have ice build up on top of the unit. I have a drain hose so the bucket is not full. I have cleaned the air filter. I have also removed the front grill and used a fine brush to remove dust...

Hi,

The coils you see on the back of your dehumidifier are the evaporator. When the unit runs, the coils get very cold. As the fan draws the room air over the coils, the humidity in the air condenses out of the air onto the cold coils. But, if the temperature of the air the fan draws over the coils is too cool, the humidity that condenses out of the air freezes on the coils.

To remedy this problem, you can try any of these:
Warm up the room the dehumidifier is in.

Put the dehumidifier on a sturdy table (the room air is coolest near the ground).

Turn the unit off until the room warms up.

Take care.

Our LG LHD45EL dehumidifier stopped working. The bucket full light flashes, though the bucket is empty and the filters clean. The display shows CH01. The manual does not say what CH01 means. Any...

I don't know what CHO1 is either! My husband and I had the same problem a couple years ago. We just ended up buying a new one.

Compressor and fan working but no water

Take the bucket out and remove the two (black colored phillips head) screws at the bottom of the front panel, just above where the bucket was. Push the bottom of the panel to the side a bit to release the retaining tabs from the metal side panels and pull the bottom of the panel forward to remove the panel from the top tabs, leaving wires attached. Put the bucket back in place and observe the coils while compressor and fan run for several minutes (5 to 10 minutes will do). If coils do not get cold, or only get cold over a small area, you have a refrigerant leak. A refrigerant leak is not economical to repair. Most dehumidifiers have a 5 year sealed system warranty, so round up your receipt and call LG with the model and serial number (located on a sicker behind the bucket) to get an exchange unit. Going from memory here, but I think you can reach LG at 1-800-256-0000.

I am trying to clean my coil to possibly help improve water removal. How do I get the front piece off the machine I have removed the two screws but still cannot pull it off.

After you remove the two screws, you just have to pull up on the front panel (gently). Use the vent slots for finger holds. I just did it 10 minutes ago.

No water is collecting on 2 year old lg humidifier

If when you turn your dehumidifier on the compressor runs then you should get moisture. Dehumidifiers work on the same principal as refrigeration. There is a bad control switch or the compressor start relay or capacitor is defective. If compressor runs and there is no effect then that is another problem. The filter should come out the front where the air goes in front and the filter should be washed by hand in warm degrease detergent water, dry and replace. If the disposable type filter I will help you contact LG.Thanks, Sea Breeze

"CH 01" shows on the display screen

This will need to be serviced. LG has a 5 year warranty on these models. They usually will tell you of a service center nearby which will service it free of charge since it is under warranty. If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is under 5 years old.
