A fraction is just a division of two integers. Enter numerator, then press the division key and then the denominator.

If you press ENTER at this time your fraction will be calculated and displayed as a decimal number.
To keep it in fraction form you must press [MATH][1:>Frac]. The result will be a fraction but reduced to its simplest terms (an irreducible fraction).

27 [/] 48 [MATH][1:>Frac][ENTER] gives 9/16

How do I enter a fraction on my TI-84 Caclulator and get a fraction as an answer? If I hit (Math) then (1:Frac) and put in a fraction and hit enter it tells me error. What am I doing wrong???

To Enter a basic fraction just enter the first number, then a division sign, then the second number. So two thirds would look like "2/3" (Without quotes). For more complicated fractions you may need to put parentheses for the left and/or right of the division sign like in the fraction (5+2^4)/(2-8). To get the calculator to show it as a fraction you would enter the fraction, then press (Math) then (1:Frac). So the input on your screen should look something like this "2/3>>Frac" (Without Quotes, and >> being a filled triangle pointing at the word Frac). From your post it sounds like you were putting the fraction last when it should have gone first.

How to convert a fraction into a decimal

First put the calculator in degree mode.
To convert from fraction to a decimal number first enter your fraction or, mixed number. I'll convert a mixed number to a fraction first since, I don't have a key for the symbol that shows that a number is a fraction on my keyboard. Example: [3][A b/c][1][A b/c][2][A b/cd/e][ENTER]
3/2 should be entered at the home screen. While at the Home screen enter, [2nd][FD][ENTER]
1.5 should now be displayed at the Home screen.
As you can see it is really just using the [A b/c] key to enter in your fraction and, [FD] key to do the converting. The [A_b/cd/e] key isn't necessary because, mixed numbers will convert to decimal numbers just like fractions do. I just don't have the key to show a fraction symbol that the calculator uses. So to show that symbol, I used the / symbol with the fraction number.

How do put fraction?

A fraction is basically a division of two integer numbers. To enter a fraction you type the numerator, press the division key, enter the denominator and press [ENTER]. For a mixed number (integer + fraction) enter the Integral part, press [+] and then enter the fraction part as described above.

However what you really want to know is how to enter a fraction and KEEP it in a fraction format.
To do that, you enter the fraction as described above, then you press the [MATH] key and select [1:>Frac] then [ENTER}.
The fraction will keep its nature but what will be displayed is the irreducible equivalent.

Does what I said sound too difficult? Well, Cheer up. TI has issued a major upgrade to the OS of the TI84PLUS/TI84PLUS SE. Download the OS version 2.53 MP and install it on your calculator. The easiest way to do so is to open TIConnect on your computer, connect the calculator to the computer and click the UPDATES button in the TI Connect main window.

How do i do a fraction on a TI-83 plus calculator

  1. Enter a numerator, the division sign /, then the denominator.
  2. Instead of pressing the [ENTER] key, press [MATH] and [1:|=>Frac]
  3. The command line displays the fraction you entered, followed by the [|=>Frac] command.
  4. Press [ENTER] to display a reduced (equivalent) fraction.
  5. If you keep using the sequence [1:|=>Frac][ENTER] with all your fractions you can keep getting fraction results.

The OS of the calculators Ti84PLUS and TI84Plus SE has been upgraded recently to the 2.53MP (math Print) version, which provides some significant improvement to the handling of Fractions, Logarithms, etc. Unfortunately for you, the upgrade is not compatible with the TI83PLUS

I don't know how to use fractions

Enter any fraction as a division problem and your TI 83 will evaluate it as a fraction.

For instance, 3/4 = three fourths.

HOW TO INTER FRACTION ON A TI-83

Hello,
Once you enter a fraction the calculator calculates it and displays a decimal result. So basically you cannot do fraction manipulations. However you can convert a decimal result into a fraction. To do the conversion, you enter the decimal number then you Press [MATH] and [1]. ( -->Frac) The number will be converted.
Similarly you can enter a fraction to a decimal number (-->Dec)
[MATH] [2:] [ENTER]. But I see no point in doing that, because any fraction entered is displayed as a decimal number.

Hope it helps
