I have an Amana Distinctions Freezer on the bottom refrigerator. It is making louder and louder clunks, thunks, and a variety of noises. The freezer constantly has to be cleaned out as a sheet of ice forms in the bottom that is so thick I have to tap it to break it to take the ice out in CHUNKS regularly. I noticed it used to sound like it was "breathing", now it sounds like it's breaking into pieces.

It sounds like your defrost heating element may not be working and you should ck the drain line that takes defrosted water to the underside of the fridge. The defrost element is in the back of the fridge where your cooling coils are it will be a a black tube apx 18 inches long with connections on both ends. (some use a glass tube with a element on the inside) IF you take the plastic liner/housing off to get at the cooling cool (called a evaporator coil) and it has a lot of frost and ice on it it is either this element which you can ck with an ohm meter or the defrost timer. The defrost timer is in the fridge side and is under the plastic back or in the center top if your control is there. The timer will have a slot in it that you can turn with a flat blade screwdriver. Turn it slowly until the fan in the fzr turns off andthe compressor and fan kick off go slowly you will hear audible clicks but the defrost mode is just one click wide and it may take a while to go thru all of the clicks be patient. When the fzr fan and compressor kick off wait 2 to 3 minutes and the heating element should get hot and start hissing as water runs across it and the ice will start popping. If this happens the element is fine replace the timer if not replace the element and the little thermal disc (called a defrost limit) that is attached to one end of it make sure to unplug the fridge you will have to cut the wires going to the element and defrost limit when wiring back in just use **** connectors or twist caps and elect tape. good luck hope I helped

Loud humming noise (vibration) from freezer section when running. Amana refrigerator (freezer on bottom) model BC21VW

Remove the back panel and see if the fan is turning. You will need it in the running cycle with the door switch closed. The noise your hearing is probally the fan assembly AP4008960. Make sure it is mounted tight and the back panel is not rubbing or loose. If the fan is making noise with the panel removed replace.

Compressor is making very loud clunk when shutting off.

I think the wire was kinda expensive. If I were you I would try to save the fridge. I think you should unplug it for a couple hours, take everything out for a while and remove any ice. Once the fridge reached room temp, the refrigerant should have made its way back to the compressor. Plug it back in and see if it makes the noise again.
It might just be the fan in the freezer. I would try the unplug/deice for a few hour method first because it is free before you try to replace a fan that might be bumping ice. Good luck!

Light is on, fan runs, compressor will not come on, compressor has never made a noise. Amana Distinctions model ARS2665A S/N 0010242568..side by side refrigerator freezer with ice maker.

Below bottom grate is a defrost timer. Turn slowly clockwise until you hear compressor start. If this works, replace defrost timer.
Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Amana refridgerator mdl abl2222fes knock noise

sounds like the compressor vibration dampers are wearing out. the dampers are the rubber washers that seperate the compressor from the chassis of the fridge. when they start to deteriorate, and the compressor kicks on, it will bounce against something in the chassis, causing a knocking noise.
