Grey and white screen--lens won't open--beeps and shuts off

Sounds as if this may be a repair issue with the camera. You may want to call Olympus customer service to discuss their repair policy. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

you can replace the LCD screen for about 20 bucks.

it would appear that the lcd screen has malfunctioned and would need repair.... you can try power cycle by taking batteries out and press and hold power button down for 10 secs, draining all power out of camera, then put the batteries back in and try again

appears to be power issue in the camera but you can try the lithium AA batteries that are located in the photo section of your stores... they are more powerful than regular AA batteries or else send to repair shop

The lens need to be replaced or repaired. It is not fully extending. It may be that one or more of the plastic gears or plastic rods that hold the gears in place, are broken. I repaired two plastic rods in my lens, by drilling holes for new plastic rods,(I cut plastic rods from a plastic toilet bowl chain!!! It fit inside the gears perfectly), and super glue the rods in place. Replaced gears, put camera back together and BAM in worked! Nothing like a perfectly working refurbished rig job. Camera takes great pictures to this day.

Broken LCD screen is quite easy to replace on the FE-170 and FE-210. I have purchased cameras with bad lens but good LCDs on ebay pretty cheaply( compared to having Olympus repair camera).

its fucked up olympus sux i bought a sony cybershot 4000000 times better than that trash fe-210.
i trashed it destroyed it mutilated it till it begged for mercy
