Rust stains and bleach spots.

I washed a load of whites just fine and then I washed a load of colored clothes. I took the colored clothes out of the washer and all of the clothes had little white circles on them from the wash basket. They all look like bleach stains. Could that be possible? Also, my washer leaves rust stains on all my clothes. My washer is less then 7 years old. Please please help..Will they replace the washer basket if the paint is chipping on the inside?

I have these bleach spots... for now I have just given up using bleach. I read somewhere else to just not use the bleach dispenser but that stinks because I bought my machine for the dispenser. I have tried to use less bleach and to run some "rinse" loads. I also try to do towels after the whites so our clothes arn't ruined but many many have been ruined anyway...

I have the same problem-small circles left from bleach. I stopped using bleach, but these spots are still showing up randomly a month later!

I get the same rust stains on my white clothes. I have over 15 pieces that has been ruined becasue of this. Sears does not want to do anything about it. They've been at my house over 5 times now and they ignore the situation and say that it can't be from the machine. I hate my Kenmore front loader.....And Sears .

I'm sorry but the white spots will be due to bleach. It may be that there was undissolved bleach in the washer after the first load. Maybe some of it came out with the whites and lay in wait in the basket.

I doubt the makers would guarantee anything for 7 years, so no free basket or installation is likely. Seems there is a chip in the enamel and dampness / water from the previous wash days before sits there collecting iron as rust particles.

For the time being you could try rinsing the machine out before the first load. That might prevent the rust marks or reduce them.

I get what look like rust streaks on my white clothing when I wash them in my washer. The stains do not come out even with straight bleach. RIT rust stain remover will get them out, but there's not...

1. Iron or manganese in the water supply. • Avoid using chlorine bleach on rust stains. It will make them darker and more obvious. • When iron is dissolved in the water, use granular detergent plus a non-precipitating water conditioner, such as Calgon or Spring Rain*. Better results may be obtained by dissolving detergent and water conditioner in the wash before adding the clothes. Be certain that all clothes are down into the water before starting washer. • If the iron is suspended in the water (it will settle out), attach a rust filter to the faucet and inlet hoses or to the water line. • If iron or manganese stains are a recurring problem, the customer may need a special filter or chemical feeder installed in the home to remove these minerals from the water supply. To remove: Launder with RoVer* Rust Remover Part No. 057961 using the directions below: • Top loading washers: a. Fill the washer with water (no detergent), selecting a temperature suitable for the fabric (hot or warm). b. Add 1/3 cup RoVer and let it dissolve by agitation. c. Add clothes and allow washer to complete the cycle. d. Follow up with an additional wash with detergent.

Be sure to check the spin basket for rust spots also.

Iam getting brown spots on white shorts after washing with Kenmore front loading washing machine

If it's gunk or build up the marks should wash away. In this case run a long cycle using "affresh" or "washer fresh" with an empty load and use the hottest water available to help rinse the gunk out.

If the marks do not wash away, it could be grease due to a bearing failure. Listen for loud growling or grinding either by spinning the drum by hand or putting it into a spin cycle. If this is the case, the rear tub assembly (contains bearing) will need to be replaced. Not much can be done about the ruined clothes :(

RUST SPOTS

My 10 year old Kenmore (Whirlpool) top load washer is rusting under the top cover. The entire cover from the bleach dispenser all around is rusted under the lid. Periodically, rust dislodges into the tub and stains whites. You would have to treat the rust under the lid. I decided to try, using "Rust-mort" rust treatment on a rag. The rust would all have to be wetted with the rustmort after some scrubbing with a scuff pad. I have not attempted this yet.
I went to OSH and checked lids on new top load washers. The lip on the cheaper models was not properly coated with paint, and I could feel the rough partially exposed metal, which would rust. The more expensive models had a smooth well coated lip on the underside of the cover. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool duet front loader washer/dryer

It is not the dryer causing the problem. We get the brown streaks on our white clothes before putting them in the dryer. I have ruined more white clothes over the past six months with this Duet washing machine!!! We also don't use bleach so I don't think it is the HE/Clorox combo that somebody mentioned earlier. Anybody know what exactly is causing this yet... before I throught the moldy stain causing Whirlpool duet out?

Rusty stains on all white clothes washed

I don't think the washer is at fault; the clue is 'Used very little.' I think the rust is originating in the water pipes serving the washer. The only help there is to run one machine with no clothes in it (wasting water) or putting splitters on the faucets and flushing the lines into a sink or other drain. To remove rust stains from WHITE (!) clothing and many synthetics, buy a product named 'Whink.' It is available in many drug stores, super markets, etc. in the area where one finds other laundry items.  It is fairly safe to use (with precautions) but keep out of reach of kids.
