Mcdevito75 here, Yes it is normal, especially if your Rolex is an automatic watch. The motion of your Wrist / Hand keeps your watch wound thru the Counter balance on the movement, as the counter balance turns it winds the mainspring little by little, thus keeping your watch wound. Once you take off your watch, if long enough the mainspring simply un-winds and slows and will eventually stop your watch completely. You can keep your Rolex wound even when you take it off by means of a watch winder, a small machine that will keep your watch in motion, or by hand, by rocking the watch back and firth in your hand for about 30 seconds, say before you gpo to bed at night, this way there is always some wind to your watch.

If the watch is worn for 24 hours it's power reserve keeps it working about 12 hours without moving but when it stops after two or three hours it means that the watch needs a complete service because oil becomes hard and the watch needs disassembling, washing, oiling and reassembling . After five years all Rolex watches needs to be serviced in order to keep them clean and work accurately. And at last you can buy a watch winder that turns the watch for hours that you set to keep it working all the day and the other benefit of this machine is you don't need to manual winding therefore the main spring remains safe.

Hi hello can I asked here...I have a watch Rolex oyster perpetual datejust Geneva 18k

The simplest way to find out is to take it to a Rolex specialist repairer and ask them to look at it. They will know what small clues to look for to find out. Some of the clues could be inside the watch on the inside mechanism so a watch repairer will have the tools to open it correctly.

Vintage rolex oyster that wont wind up

Its time for a service.
Take it to any Rolex re-seller that offers repair or to any good timepiece service center. If its a vintage piece i would recommend sending it to Rolex, paying the extra cost to receive the watch with full Rolex repair documents and service history. The Rolex web site has information on this. Also this company does a fine job on Rolex repair. https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-repair-service

Can you please tell me how to set my Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust? Day light savings toime ends this evening and the watch needs to be set back 1 hour.

Unscrew the crown and then pull the crown out to the second click and turn. When done push the crown back in and screw the crown back down.

It is very important to screw the crown back down. If this is not done the watch is NOT water resistant.

Hope this helps.

Rolex oyster perpetual datejust time/date setting instructions

Depending on how old the watch is, It may be quick set or older models are not quick set. In older models you need to unscrew the crown, pull out the crown and rotate the crown to set the time, and in order to set the date rotate the hour hand past 12 twice in order for the date to change. Set the date first and then set the hour and min. For quick set models unscrew the crown and pull it out to the fist click this position you can "quickly" set the date by rotating the crown. Set the date and then pull out the crown to the second position out. Rotate the crown to set the hour and min. Then push the crown back in and screw it down.

Rolex watch stops only when I wear it

Kristy,
Stress won't affect your watch's timekeeping ability, but position will. When you lay the watch down at night, in which position is it? Also, during the day, is your arm in a static position for long periods of time? A Rolex chronometer (like the Datejust) should run approx. 36 hours after being fully wound -- without any movement. If the watch stops dead, then there is a problem with the movement and/or rotor. If it losses time, I'd bet on a static position problem. Let me know the answers to those questions and I'll try to help you get to the bottom of the problem.
