Unable to install on laptop

You'll need to install the printer driver on your computer. From there, the Lexmark software will give you step-by-step instructions on how to install and setup your printer.

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X4690 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

After installing the printer driver, try to print a document to verify that the software is installed successfully.

You don't necessarily need your printer connected to your PC to install the driver. The driver installation is so that your PC can communicate with the specified printer. If you have the install CD you can install the driver and software. Now Depending on your printing machine, some installation CD's will ask you to please connect your Printer. If this is the case, there really is no way around that because the installation directions wont let you proceed to the next step without doing that.
Each printer and its installation software have different protocols. Some will let you install without the printer being connected, some wont.

There's only three ways this printer could not be working........


One way is .... that it does not have ink (sometimes kodak printers wont print unless both the black and color ink is above parr)

Second way is ..... it could be broken (which never happens to kodak printers, unless you hit them )

And the last way is .....the driver and the software is not installed ...therefore causing the printer not to print......
(See every printer has an installation cd...... On the cd is what they call a driver for the printer and also on the cd is a software that helps you printer/scan...etc)


Drivers for printers - Helps computer communicate with printer... (Drivers can be found at companies website under support and drivers or on installation cd)

software role for printers- Helps printers do they job.......
(Example. Lets say your printer does work, does have ink and does print.......If you don't have the software installed on the computer then the printer wont be able to scan pic and docs....thats the reason for the software sometimes or i could be worst if you don't have the software)


If you don't have the installation cd than...
Again drivers and softwares can be found at the companies website under drivers and support....

Try completely uninstalling the printer drivers and software,then go into the program files folder and make sure the folder for that is also gone,if not,delete it.Make sure your printer is unplugged from the computer before you do this.After you have completed the procedure,restart the computer and insert the printer install cd,install all the drivers and software again,then plug your printer back into the computer,it will say "found new hardware".When its finished,try printing again..hope that solves your problem:)

You have answered the question you posed. Simple- you cannot print because the DRIVERS for the printes is NOT INSTALLED.

Solution: Go to the manufacturer website, download the drivers relative to your printer model, install the drivers, and now you can print.

Oh, if your drive can read other CD's then the disc you are using is either DIRTY or DAMAGED.

r1800 doesn't support cd printing. Maybe that's why you can't find the disc??????
