Turns off immediately after turned on - Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2010

I'm in need of your repair manual with links to parts on eBay so I can fix-it myself. I also tried holding down the menu and input buttons for 5 seconds and get the 2-2...two blinks, pause, 2 blinks.

Do the self check it should have: when shuts down and green light goes out: On the front of the set press and hold both input and menu buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both.

Power light on set should blink a two digit error code: like 2 blink,2 blink, pause and repeat it at least 5 times total.

Let me know what error code and I will tell you what it means.

yeah, i tried that and i got a 2-2...two blinks, pause, 2 blinks...sounds like the convergence chips and possibly some fuses...i've currently got the tv unplugged for four hours to see if it's a software glitch, which i doubt. i've moved this tv 5-6 times since 2001 so i am sure i've jiggled something loose...i think the old mitshubishi will be 86'd

ONE of the two 5 amp pico fuses on the middle board (Location 9FA04 or 9FA05 is open--You need to locate it (the center board will have to come out of the set) and replace it and the convergence chip or chips the set uses: total parts cost on Ebay would be under 30 dollars.

I also have start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in this model that I can upon request post here for you for free.

    Self test = 2 2

2,2 Means convergence issue has blown a pico fuse---and model is ws55519? Convergence chip or chips and fuse need to be replaced---confirm model number and provide a email address for free do it yourself instructions.
