I have a 46hm95 tv. red light flashes 3 times, then pauses indicating color wheel problem. is this a dealer replace part or can i replace? if so, where is listing to buy part? is it worth fixing or should i count on buying a new tv? thanks

If the red light flashing 3 times the pause and again flashing 3 times, check and make sure lamp cover is installed correctly back on tv.

Red light flashing on tv indicates that tv got some problem and shifted to protection mode to avoid further damage.
If Lamp light is flashing on tv then check lamp that would be dead or broke, replace lamp to solve tv problem.
If standby red light is flashing on tv then let me know how many times it is flashing after 3 seconds long pause to provide you helpful info.

First step in any Sony LCD projector repair is bulb or lamp replacement. Fixes 95% of problems.

Taking apart and trying to measure things without a known good bulb is a waste of time and effort.

Please count red light flashes and let me know. There would be long pause between flashes so count pause to pause. It is an error code of TV problem.

you need to test the lamp with a ohm meter, to see if its working correctly

A reset won't fix this. The standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a 3 second pause inbetween. Post that count here. That will indicate the circuit/condition that is preventing the set from turning on.

The light engine part number is 234054 and cost $456.00

More than likely, as with almost EVERY 46HM95, it's your light engine or color wheel (same thing) starting to go out. The piece alone will run between $500 and $750.. Install prices depend on where ya go. And don't let the Toshiba rep lie to ya. That person might not have known the problem, but Toshiba as a whole has heard about this problem and known about it. If you've searched the internet for the same problem, you'll see that almost everyone that has bought this TV gets the same response from Toshiba "Never heard of it" or "it's out of warranty, tough luck" I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit yet.
