My laptop has built-in-wifi and i have a dsl modem which you can get wireless internet from. But when it is searching for a network to connect to it says it cant find any networks. I have another laptop which picks the signal up right away so why wont my acer?

I suppose you need to connect the internet using WiFI and not cable DSL . Please follow the below steps. You need to have a Wireless router in place and connect the DSL to the router , then u need to give an IP to the router.
