HDMI settings wouldn't work

My Sagem Axium HD-L32 tv has suddenly stop recognising the signal from my Virgin V+ Box (cable tv). I am using a Monster HDMI cable and also two scart cables connected to my tv via a Samsung DVD-HR735 Recorder/player. Can you to re-start (kick-start) this conection again?
Many thanks: Jay

I must clarify my tv is not a projection one but a flat LCD tv. Thanks

  • paisano Apr 30, 2008

At this moment there is one scart cable connected from my tv to the V+Box(cable tv), another one from the V+ box to the DVD plaayer, another scart cable connected from dvd player to tv and the monster HDMI cable connected from de dvd player to the tv.

  • paisano Apr 30, 2008

NO that isn't the problem. What's happened is the failure of my tv recognising the HDMI signal through either my V+Box (cable tv) which already has HDMI connection or the DVD recorder?player.

  • paisano Apr 30, 2008

since we aren't talking about a projector, do I need to be re-directed?

  • paisano May 02, 2008

Hi IrishDruid! Thanks very much for your advice. I have tried all the cable connections to no avail and will be very much obliged if oyou could suggest to me a qualified technician here in London,UK. Best regards, Jay

Hi Pauldonp! thankyou so much for your suggestions which I followed to the letter but I'm afraid still no joy there. Could you possible suggest a contact here in London Uk. for a technitian to come and have a look my TV? Thanks again: Jay

  • paisano May 04, 2008

Special thanks to pauldonp for all his suggestions and the rest of the team who tried to help wit a solution to my problem. I did managed to find a freelance technician, known by a local bussines agent, and who agreed to come and have a look at my connections and after trying switching cables around managed to get the 'handhsake' between my tv and the virgen v+ box. The cable he used was the component one(the one with the white-red-white-red-green and blue)and then went to the settings of virgen v+box for the component and as soon as he press the buttom for these settings on the remote control of the virgen v+ box, he had only witin three seconds to find the connection called YUV on the remote control of my tv and pressed it..and eureka!!! the handshake was established and so was the HDMI settings of my tv to give us a superb HD quality picture!!. There is only one more thing and that is that my dvd player now seems to be at fault since we couldn't get it working, but that's another thing. Thank you again for all your good efforts.

    kind regards:Jay

Most likely a problem with the HDMI cable or the HDMI connector on the TV set.
Try using a different cable, if possible to rule out the HDMI cable fault. Next try the cable on another HDMI enabled TV (if possible). If it works there, it is most likely a problem with the connector plug on the TV itself, for which you may need to engage the services of a qualified technician.

Cheers!

Hi, The best thing to try is remove the leads one at a time then push them all back in again this usually resets in case of any static build up in the leads. Failing this then turn your virgin box off for 15 min i mean unplugged then switch back on it should then boot back up and solve your problem. Try the leads first though to rule them out.
I had this problem last week and turning virgin off at mains seems to solve the problem but off for 15 min or more ok. then get back to me

Make sure to double check all cables it only takes it to be slightly out for you to lose signal after doing this then switch off virgin box at mains for about 15min. It could even be downtime in your area from virgin it should tell you of any problems on their website.

Ill have a look for you ok but as i live in birmingham uk then ill have to have a look online for you.
The only problem is calling someone out will cost a fortune but the problem you have is they do need to come out and actually see whats happening.
Try having a look through your local phone book im hoping its only soemthing simple and shouldnt cost to much to get repaired. Im thinking maybe the socket for the hdmi might have bad solder this causing you the problem this is easy to fix but depending on how long it takes this is where your going to pay the most, as you know they charge by the hour in uk so can get expensive if it takes to long.
What ill do is have a look for you then post back any info i can ok but i think the cheapest option would be someone who's self employed as these tend to be alot cheaper than the bigger stores for repairs but its up to you ill get back to you shortly ok

so you say you have scart in cable going into tv makes sure this is in output on the cable box then into input on telly.
If this is correct then try pressing the av button on the control 2 or 3 times and see if that gets the picture back for you. if you dont have av button then yours might be source. Now depending om the amount of inputs into the telly this will mean pressing the av button untill you can get the telly on the correct input to reciev the signal.

Alsl the last time i had this problem it was the box itself so unplugging from mains for an hour solved the problem it just means waiting for your cable box to boot back up again ok.
Let me know how you get on ok

  • Anonymous May 03, 2008

Hi just noticed you go it running through the dvd aswell this will then need to be set to the right av channel i think their is only one on dvd player so on dvd remote press av then hopefully it should be working but let me know ok

  • Anonymous May 03, 2008

Hi also you could try entering the setup on telly control and then go through the menu's and check the hdmi is turned on as they are set to off when sold due to alot of people not having other hd equipment, so this is also worth checking ok get back to me either way ok

My TV will not stop switching itself off

Hi, The first thing to do is troubleshoot your TV independent to any other service provider that has a box that probably connects to your TV via a HDMI cable or old version scart.

Simply turn off your TV and turn off the socket that the TV is plugged in for 20 mins. Also turn of any Virgin media boxes.

After 20 mins turn on the TV. Do not worry if you get a message saying no signal detected. Wait and see if the TV stays on with no messages such as auto-standby. If the TV remains on with no problems then turn on your Virgin Media Box. The box will need to initialise ( about 30 seconds ) and then the TV should recognise the HDMI signal and you will see the Virgin TV.

If your TV turns off at any point during this process you have a fault with the TV, If when you turn on the Virgin box and no signal is detected you have either a cable connection problem or a Virgin Box problem, so using your TV REMOTE turn your TV back to ARIEL input to receive the normal television broadcasts via your Ariel that give you the normal freeview television that all modern TV's can receive, if you can get the normal reception contact virgin support who will troubleshoot your problem.

Check the capacitors in the power supply, check for any bulged tops. Your problem is most likely power supply related.

LC-26DA5U 26 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television: i connect a hdmi cable 2 my hd cable box - the pic...

The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.
