Can I download a windows XP setup disk and use the product keey on the machine? It did not come with disks.
Yes, you may download and use the existing key. There is another way to work around. We need to figure out if this machine came with inbuilt recovery partition.
If it has an inbuilt recovery partition, we can run repair without setup disc.
To check if computer has an recovery partition, the moment you boot the machine; keep tapping the F8 key. You will see a screen says "Windows Advanced Option".
There you need to check any option; please post the options that you see.

These are the options I have:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot logging
Enable VGA Mode
Last Known Good Configuration
Directory Services REstore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Disable Auto Restart on system failure
Start windows normally
reboot
return to OS choices menu
You don't have an Recovery partition; try entering SAFE MODE and see it XP Loads. Or else we need to run repair installation. We dont have any other choice.
When I try to enter safe mode and error message comes up: "the system is not fully installed. Please run setup again." If I click OK it then goes to the same XP screen that it stalls at every time... Where can I download an xP repair disk from??
You cannot download legal Windows setup CD, You may ask you friends or some one. In internet there are many illegak versions of XP setup downloads, but in Fixya we do not recommend it.
Well that does not help me much!
Windows XP files are corrupted and will never boot untill it repaired. This is the only option to repair the Operating system. You have get a XP Setuo disc to fix this problem.

Hi! Please try this. Remove the battery of the pc and unplug the pc from power source then press hold the power button for 10secs. this should drain excess power and will reset the system. Put the battery in again then turn on the pc and see how it goes. You should to this as a first course of action and please write back on the progress. Hope this helps and have a good one!
Hi! I have removed the power, but don't know how to remove the battery as it is an all in one desktop. Will unplugging it for a while work?

Hi! if still no luck on this I believe that its a hard drive problem. You will need to reformat the hard drive for programs may have crashed.
