The main unit with answer machine has an inlet line where the phone line from the wall plugs into, which is located in the back of unit along with where the power cord gets attached. The second handset should have a stand/charger unit that should just plug into an outlet only to charge it. The two handsets run off the main answering machine/ unit. So as long as that is plugged in you should be able to use both handsets, because they both operate on the same frequency wave. Hope this helps you.
On whirlpool (all manufacture) dryers the ground wire is linked to the center terminal with the white wire and attaches to the cabinet grounding all metal on dryer since on panel attaches to the next making the entire cabinet have continuty through the neutral/ground wire. When connecting 3 wire cord connect the two outside wires to red/black on cord block and center wire to white/center terminal connection on block. For a 4 wire cord red to red black to black white to white and the green to rear of cabinet/any panel near block

I don't know how much trouble it is to access the heater end of the cord but if you can see how to do it, it would be a good time to replace the entire cord & plug.
Any of the home improvement stores (if in the US) will have the right materials and you will have the chance to lengthen the cable to eliminate any extension cord. Make it 20' if you choose, the wiring will handle it.
Ask or look for a 3-conductor flexible heavy appliance-type cable with at least a 15 amp rating. This may be marked as 2/12 and will have a third wire for safety ground, generally colored green.
The other two will be one black and one white insulated conductor.
When properly wired, the white is neutral, the black is 'hot.'
The plug will be fairly large and have screw terminals for the three wires. This type of replacement plug will handle any 120 V household appliance.
The actual blade contacts that go into the receptacle may have one wide, one narrower, and one round pin for the standard outlet.
The wide blade inside terminal for the wire is intended for the white insulated wire, the narrow for the black and the ground (green or green/yellow) insulated wire goes to the round ground pin's screw terminal.
These plugs are equipped with a substantial strain relief under which the entire cable diameter is clamped.
Inside the heater's attachment area, there should be currently wires attached that correspond to those in the new cord but if not, they may be marked as in Europe (the brand is Italian) and that may have changed since I left there years ago.
If you find the following colors, substitute the paired color for US use:
- Brown = US black = Hot
- Blue = US white = Neutral
- Green or green/yellow = US green or green/yellow = Ground
If you find anything else, let a professional connect the new line for your own safety.
You need to measure for voltage inside the machine between the white wire and black wire from the power cord. If zero, the cord is likely broken at or near the plug end. This is a common problem if one pulls the plug by yanking on the cord instead of pulling on the plug directly. In any case, try cutting the cord off a little way back from the plug, and fit a new replacement plug from a home center or hardware store. If the voltage test above showed line voltage (115 volts AC in the US), then turn the switch to on, and measure for voltage between the white wire and the motor side of the switch. If good, then likely there is a motor brush problem or a broken winding in the motor. Repair of this usually requires dis-assembly of the housing around the motor. Hope this helps!
you nead to remove the green wire from the interior and tape it off.the whole point of the four-wire cord is to separate the ground from neutral, the green wire on the cord is attached to the cabinet.
If you want to use a different answer machine just run the phone line from the wall to the machine you want to use. Be sure you plug in the cord that say's "Line". Then use another cord that will plug into the answer machine that say's "phone". Plug that other end into your phone and be sure to turn the answer machine off on the phone. Good luck.
On a 120 volt plug, the smaller plug is black, power. The larger side is white, neutral. The center round plug is green, ground. Make sure your ac is not 220, the plugs are in line above the neutral. On 220 both are power.
