I have a husqvarna 36 chainsaw that starts and runs just fine. However, the stop switch doesnt seem to work. I push the switch to stop and the saw continues to run. The only way to kill it is to use the choke. Is the kill switch bad? Thanks a lot.

Hi
Yeah, your switch has gone bad,and using the choke isn't how you want to kill it for too long.Fouled Plugs. Here's a link to the service manual pdf if you want to do it yourself. Shouldn't be too hard.

I've got exactly the same on a new saw.I haven't used it since I bought it and it's now out of guarantee.Terrible quality control.Actually potentially dangerous.

Want to know what the button on the top right corner of the saw is meant for ,often while cutting my left thumb seems to hit this and shut the saw off. There is a little diagram beside the button by I...

The only button i can think of is the decompression valve, but i did not think it possible to hit this while operating the saw, this button is a starting aid, you push it in to satrt the saw, when the saw sarts it will come out automatically, if you push it in with the saw running it will stop.

This sounds like the throttle spindle sticking, or the cable sticking, if you remove the top cover and air filter, then push the throttle spindlefully back to the stop screw with your finger, then try again, the spindle may be a little gummed up.

Husqvarna 235e will not stay running

Take the saw back for warranty service. We have a Husky #435 that had starting problems when new last year--warranty service replaced the ignition module the first trip, then a little later, they replaced the carburetor--it has worked very well since. I suspect that Husqvarna has had problems with our ethanol blended fuels. Hope this helps!

Husqvarna ranger 55 chainsaw starts but quits

I too have a rancher 55 and had what sounds like the same problem this week. It would start fine but run for only a few seconds at a time. I took it all apart today and found the problem - a cracked fuel line. In the places where I could see the hose it looked fine, but it wasn't until I removed the fuel tank that I found the crack...right where it exits the tank and then goes thru the housing above it. You don't need to remove the tank to replace the hose but it is easier that way. You do have to push it thru a grommet at the top of the tank. I read some other posts about checking the tank vent to see that it's not plugged up. Mine was ok so I knew it had to be something else. The vent is in a hole about the size of a pencil and is recessed about an inch into the tank on the upper right side. Its partially covered by a plastic cap that's part of the vibration damper, which can be removed to gain access to the vent. The vent tube can then be pushed out from inside the tank with the use of long needle nose pliers, but be gentle. I just loosened it then pushed it out with a finger. I put it all back together with a new hose and its running like new again!

Stop switch

one end of the blue wire goes to the ignition coil and the other end goes to the stop switch.

Husqvarna chain saw starts and runs for 20 minutes then stops.

two things could be happening.......first is vapor lock......make sure you breather tube is clear and working........next is ....it could have a bad ignition coil on it.....after the coil gets hot the spark can become irratic or just not work any more.....

Repaired Husqvarna 41 chainsaw won't start.

Hi

The off switch of the chainsaw has to establish the continuity to kill the running engine.First check the switch with a measure apparat. Then check the continuity of the two wiring harness, sepparately. One wire is atached to the ignition module with a screw and goes to the off position of the switch. The other one towards the on position of the switch.Check the spring!
