I have a Sony lcd data projector- VPL-SC50.. There is a big black blob in the middle, with other lines near the edges. And the blob is growing larger now. But it does not look like a burn out, it looks like something digital. What is going on? I am worried that it will soon fill the whole screen! What is this digital blob and what do I do to fix it?

Normally a "blob" on an LCD is a delamination of one or more of the LCD panels. But, they are usually not black. You may have a poor ribbon cable connection from the main board to the LCD panels....there is a ribbon connection to each of the Red, Green and Blue panels. It's either that or a main board failure, but certainly soemthing you want the factory or other authorized service center to check out.
