My Garmin 760 charger appears to not be working. The two lights on the car charger quit lighting in the middle of a trip. 30 minutes later I get a low battery warning. Do the car chargers just quit working?

It's most likely that the fuse has blown in the charger plug. Instructions complete with pictures are available from http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/cache/offonce/us/support/searchsupport;jsessionid=DB06036F1F1FBB6DE01E21EE59D70192

You were right about the fuse, only it was completely missing, along with the button holding it in. I am guessing that twisting the charger to get a good contact wound up loosing the fuse holder to the point where it fell out in the hotel room.

Garmin 760 not charging or working from the car charger. I changed the fuse and the green light is on but will not power up. It use to automatically come on when the car started and turn off but now,...

Since the unit will operate after charging - but only briefly - the battery in the 760 may be depleted. You can purchase a replacement that is as good or better for less than $25 from many places - here are the results of a google search. Some include the required tools in the purchase price.

Once you've got the replacement battery, you'll need to replace it. Check this link for the procedure. No soldering required!

Of course, you could send it off to Garmin, where they'll likely send hope this helps!

The charger/traffic receiver glows green but it does not charge the unit. How can i test whether the fault is a, the charger, b the cradle or c, the unit

hi,

1st of all let me say im on my 3 cradle now for my 760 because the connection inside the cradle where it mounts to the board is pretty poor.

since you said the traffic/charger has the green light lite, that means the charging part of it is working.

you can verify if its the cradle or the connection on the bottom of the gps where the cradle mounts by using the usb cable supplied with your garmin.

plug it in for a while, then check the battery meter after you unplug it..if its charging, the meter would have risen beyond what it was before you tried to charge it. the same can be done with a regular garmin charger (the one that uses the usb connection for the car charger to charge it)

760 garmin will not power on!!!!

The battery may be fully discharged. Once the battery has fallen below a certain level, it will not be possible to recharge via the car adapter. Instead, the GPS should be connected via USB cable to a computer for 8 or more hours to charge the battery. Disregard any missing driver messages, as the computer will provide the voltage required to charge (regardless of drivers present or not).

Once charged, the car charger should be able to keep the battery charged - unless allowed to become fully discharged again. Repeat USB charging as needed.

Garmin 760 won't power up and is hot.

Have you tried sliding the power switch to the left and holding for at least 30 seconds?

I have a Garmin 760 did not come with a ac

The AC charger plugs into the mini-USB port on the bottom of the unit. The term AC is somewhat misleading as the AC charger plugs into an AC outlet but provides +5VDC to charge the units internal 3.7VDC battery.

You can purchase an OEM AC charger here:

Garmin 760 wont come on

Try holding the power slide to the left and holding it there for 8 seconds. If that doesn't work, try charging it via your PC & USB cable. If that doesn't work, try a mains charger if you have one (I had to do this with mine). Good luck!
