SONY VPL-CS3 Thr LCD projector was powered down after use, the light was off and the fan was still working. Somebody accidentally pulled the power cord and the unit was disconnected from power - and died. I assume the shock could damage the lamp but .. now no any LEDs are on, including the one that indicates Lamp/cover problem. Connection of the power cord makes a typical capacitor charge ("static" noise) sound , all internal fuses are fine but the power supply does not turn on, it seems like the PS died but it hard to believe it did not survive the power surge. Do you thing replacing lamp can make any sense? Did anyone met similar problem?

i have the same problem as well and was wondering were i could get the replacement board for it? I have a vpl--cs3 sony

I have the same problem but this was not caused by cutting the power while the fan was running. Everytime I disconnected and reconnected the power in the last few months, the standby light would not come back on for a few hours. Now it seems to be completely dead except for the static hiss from the capacitors.

I guess the ps needs replacement. Any idea where this can be sourced?

I have this problem, although I have taken it apart, and the first board (the one the power plug goes into) seems ok, I wired up a lightbulb to the other end so power is getting through that board ok. there seems to be another power supply for the light and other related bits. Its hard to know which board to replace, although I can see you can buy replacement boards from sonys website.

Hi there

Replacing the lamp won't make any difference at all.

If you have checked the fuse on the Powersupply Board and it tested ok , then the whole Board will need replacement.

Sony VPL-ES7 projector boots up after few seconds switches off, with a red light flashing severally on the power button. Please what could be the problem because i have serviced the projector!!!!

Check the fan connections, one might not be connected right if you have just serviced it. Switching off with a flashing red light usually indicates a fan error.
Also is there a sequence to the flashes? e.g, 4 flashes and pause?
some manufacturers have a fault code table for the amount of flashes.

Shuts down

Be sure the fan is running and the filter is clean. If those are both good, it's probably the thermal sensor. That would require a factory repair.

I have sony vpl ex7 and the power button keeps on blinking?

If it blinks with 2 flashes, it's overheated. Check the filter unit.
If it blinks with 4 flashes, a fan is not working properly. see if any fan is not turning on, and check why.
If it blinks with 6 flashes, it's a system internal failure.

How to disable power on password on Sony VPL-ES2 LCD projector?

Hi there! I'm assuming you're able to enter the password so that the unit comes up...Go into the menu selection called "Initial Settings". Choose the option called "Security Lock" and pick the "off" menu item. Exit out of the menu and power down the projector. Re-start the projector and it should have no password activation. If you need the user manual, let me know...Hope I assisted you successfully!--Rick
