Overexposed photos in otherwise normal settings in casio ex-s500

Recent problem w/overexposed photos with multiple horizontal or vertical lines across light color object, but video mode works fine with regular exposed video images in casio exilim digital camera. factory reset was done to restore settings, but captured photo quality haven't return to normal.

I'm getting overexposed pictures yet video works fine. Some pictures come out fine with flash (only in dark). Otherwise, overexposed, really bright almost white pictures with lines. help!

same here.. I found out that if you zoom in to a certain point it will not overexpose, but that is a pain.

I hope someone can find a solution. The Casio website has no support.. Its horrible.!

My EX-S600 suddenly began to overexpose, even when I try the manual settings. I can take flash photos indoors...and sometimes indoors without flash, but in the sunlight or other bright light, it overexposes every shot.

    Any ideas?

overexposed photos in daylight...with horizontal lines across them..at night it works fine with flash..pls help

I have the same problem. (overexposure with horizontal lines of pixels more exposed than others).
It happened after a friend dropped the camera.
I went to a casio dealer here in Venezuela and they told me it was the lens (obviously wrong) and it cost about 175$ to have it fixed.

Being so precise on the horizontal lines is it really the shutter or maybe something to do with the electronics?

It is the shutter (or at least it was for me) I found a simple test here: http://www.mydc.com.tw/repair/knowledge_en/casio-exilim-ex-s600-overexposure-t17.html
I repaired it myself, but it took me a whole afternoon and lots of patience.
The hard part is taking the camera apart, once I got to the shutter I just activated it manually so to dislodge any pieces that might have gotten jammed, then placed it back together again and it worked! :).
It's really hard to take apart, it's like a puzzle sometimes, to find which screws are keeping it together. I also had a bit of hard time when it came to put the zoom back together again.
But I guess it beats throwing the camera away.
I'm still puzzled on how the CCD works so that an overexposure would make horizontal overexposed lines, but everything points to that. Fixed shutter, lines be gone.

I had the same problem with my EX-Z700. According to the repair guy, lots of Casio cameras have a problem with the flat cable that connects the shutter mechanism to the camera.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid, because the camera shutter fault.

Can't repair by yourself.
It's need repair camera machine shutter.

Casio exilim EX-S500 overexpose

i have the same exact problem with mine. it's two and a half years old as well. i also noticed that if you try taking pictures in any of the best shot modes the pictures come out looking like paintings.

also, did you ever try cleaning the lens?

Maybe it's because the camera is overheated, let it cool off. Or maybe it's because the monitor is broken. If so, then replace it.

try to use the zoom function during picture preview and you will see the horizontal bands. Time to change to a new CCD i guess..or maybe a new camera :-)

Casio Exilim s500--horizontal lines in picture and autofocus creates blurry pics

It appears this problem is due a failing CCD device in many brand cameras. All the manufactures use the same source(s). I have not persued Casio as yet, but other companies are offering a recall to replace the CCD for free. I plan to use this approach with Casio. Search the web for "failing CCD in digital camera", it describes exactly what we are observing.

This is a CCD failure. Go to the Casio Tech support team. There has been an issue with a batch of CCD's and a recall on certain models of all makes This may be one of them
