Lines in BIOS means what, it means the screen is bad.
end story. (or can be weak power pack, 19vdc 65watts(min) is it?)

BIOS runs with no HDD !! runs with no CDRom,
so that means it cant be OS related at all. ever. in this case.

HP Pavilion dv2550se Notebook PC (my guess at true name)HP does not support W7 on this plateform.that means , you are only own STEAM, with drivers. but if all you need is one driver to work, you can get that , that the maker of that GPU chip. This PC CAME WITH VISTA ONLY. EVER.THE PC DAY1 had 1 chips offered, one intel, other nvidia. we PCI scan all hardware to find whats there,so can you , or ask hp for that fact by telling them your serial number, we are not HP here its just a silly chat room here.

SOURCE: Laptop Screen distorted.

Your LCD ribbon cable that connects the panel to the motherboard might be damaged. I recommmend calling HP to get it serviced, or go to your local computer repair shop and have look at it. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: pink vertical line in acer aspire 4736z

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Converting from xp to windows 7

You can, but thorough backup of all your XP stuff is needed first, as you will lose much of it. Here is the detailed MS guide

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7#T1=tab01

Unless you have a genuine copy of W7 already, I'd recommend going to W8.1 , as it has now stabilised and will be supported for much longer than W7. However your hardware would need to be good enough. From XP there is no automated way to check this, instead

Base system missing

Is this in Device Manager? Did you notice this after the Win 7 upgrade? If so , it's a common problen when upgrading, Is that the only issue? Your Card Reader work? Modem? Co-processor? I have a HP Pavilion DV9320us I loaded Win 7 64bit Ultimate on with similar issues, modem, co-processor, card reader, etc. Use the Win Vista drivers, modify the drivers for Win 7. HP drivers found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001&lc=en&product=3548477& AND change compatibility of drivers , This will give you the general idea: http://www.techsupportforum.com/4478-installing-a-device-driver-under-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7/

Sound problem after upgrading windows

see let me tell you that windows 7 makes a computer very slow and may be your lapp's configuration supports windows 7 but could not process the datas.it seems to be a load on the lappy.still you can get the sound,by installing the lappy's motherboard disc where you will get the audio and video drivers.actually windows 7 does not need any audio or video drivers but windows 7 has the upgraded drivers which is not suitable for the lappy.so you need to install your own drivers which are compatible.

I am recently upgrade win7 hp nx9110 audio output device not installed msg getting how to resolve

Ok this is kind of common with Windows 7. Although everyone thinks its new its really not just a fairly bug free OS. The HP models running Win7 actually are using the Vista or XP driver for audio. I just ran into that issue a few months ago when upgrading a Pavillian model.

You're on the correct track, namely download from http://support.hp.com and then install the software.

If you upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista or XP, you will need to install the wireless card driver from HP for Win-7.

At present, HP does not have Win-7 drivers for this machine.

Error message on Canon scanner -there is a twain error, device might not be connected. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium recently upgraded from Vista Home Premium. What do I need to do to be able to use...

Was it all working OK before you upgraded from VISTA? If yes this sounds like a driver problem. Visit the cannon site and download their latest drivers for Win 7 - that is if there are any yet. As an early adoptor of Win 7 you can expect to have issues with hardware drivers where manufacturers have not yet developed them for Win 7. Once Win 7 has been out and about for 12 to 18 months most manufactures will have caught up and issued new drivers.
