I have a problem with Wake On LAN (WOL) on my PC. I have a GA-G41M-ES2L (revision 1.0) motherboard. a) Upgraded my BIOS to v8 (Yes, v6 fixed an issue with WOL, which I upgraded to at the time, and now I'm on v8) b) Done port forwarding on my router and yes router sends the magic packet through I have tested this c) PC is set to use static IP address c) Enabled WOL on H/W in BIOS, d) Switched off Green LAN feature (so that NIC is always on) e) Updated to latest driver for NIC and enabling WOL via settings on device manager. WOL works like a charm during the first 10-15 minutes or so after the PC is shutdown. If this time frame has passed, all of a sudden it simply does not respond. Will be much obliged for any support. Thank you very much in advance.

My only suggestion would be to go into Windows power options on control panel and see what it's set to do at shutdown. If it goes into hibernation,it will dump everything in RAM,which includes your WOL process.Try setting it to sleep instead and set the put computer to sleep time where you want.
Also, there's a link to "choose what the power button does",set that to sleep as well.
Good or bad, please rate my post?
Thanks
Bob

    Hello Bob,

Thank you very much for your quick response.
When I shut down, I do a "proper" shutdown, not sleep or hibernate. However, your suggestion of use sleep might work. So I could just put computer to sleep instead of shutdown everytime. I'll try that. Thank you again and if you have anything else to add I'm all ears.

    Cheers,

You're welcome, remember that with Win7(I'm assuming that, you seem tech. oriented)you can make up your own power profile and set your parameters.

Hi ive got a gigabyte ga-g41m motherboard and when i turn on my pc it wont power up my usb keyboard in order for me to set up bios it stays on the post screen

test the usb lead make sure its not faulty or try another keyboard

try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.

dust causes static which causes lots of problems with a computer and its parts

Dear Friends i have used in gigabyte mother board model no:GA-G41M-ES2L the problem is how i update my bios now is currently used in old version 1.0 but i have to update my bios pls tell me and solve...

you need to flash the bios .

download the new bios from gigabyte website and follow their instructions on how to update bios. be very carefull when doing this because if done incorrectly it would render your motherboard useless permanently .

in my experience if your m/b is working its best not to update the bios only time i would update the bios would be if the new bios update has new features that i really needed . if not i would not really flash the bios .
