Sohan472004, An "INVERTER CIRCUIT" lights-up the thin "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" inside lcd monitors by taking a low-voltage dc voltage (10 to 20 volts dc) and converting it to a high frequency 30khz to 100khz ac voltage (500 to 1100 vac) The same principle of operation is used to light-up those new style, curlieQ,energy-efficient,screw-in CFL light bulbs. Only their tiny "electronic-ballast" circuit is called a "CONVERTER" circuit.
AC to AC Hope this helps. 12fixlouie

How to fix Multi color Vertical Lines on a Vizio E470i-AO TV

Does the menu function display the same lines? What kind of cables are using ? (HDMI, Component vid, S-video, co-ax)
Were you as tenacious checking all cables/connections as you were the electronics? Lets rule out this all too often over-looked possibility.
Do you still get the lines with nothing connected to the TV? (no source connected)

Olevia 232 t12 lvds cable

It might be best to replace the LVDS cable along with T'Con.

Today my 55" vizio screen popped and then turned red. I unpluged and restarted everything and now the audio is on, the chanels change, but the screen is completely read. some images are readable.

If this is a VO47LFHDTV20A TV set, the problem is most likely your LVDS(cable from the main board to the t-con)cable is faulty. When you turn the set on, do you have a red screen instead of the standard blue screen? Do you also have red tints on all images on all inputs? If this is the case, your LVDS cable is bad. If you are comfortable opening up your set, track down where the LVDS cable goes into the t-con board. Turn on the set, and wiggle the cable, if the red tinting goes away, you will need a LVDS cable, about $24 part.

Why does it take 10 minutes for my LCD Legend tv

Sounds like you have a faulty capacitor on your invertor..Gently press on the screen when there is no picture.is there light on the screen? If so, there is backlight but no video..hence a mainboard or power supply problem..If there is no backlight then the problem is the invertors or the power supply not supplying 24volts. The invertor is located on left or right hand side of screen..Check that all connections are secured and not loose.Check that the power supply capacitor tops on the power supply do not have bulging tops..If not, and voltage is reaching the invertor, then remove the invertor and check for bad solder joints and leaking capacitors.

I have audio but no video, after 5 minutes the video comes on. After it is on it will blink off and on for a while.

if its an LCD or plasma tv, it sounds like an invertor problem. (the invertors run the backlights to light up the screen). I would advise getting this repaired sooner rather than later, because if the invertor fails completely, it may damage the backlights and render the TV useless. if it is a CRT (tube) TV, then its possibly a bad solder joint near the HT area of the main board.

Tv is on, screen is black. Sound is working. Channels won't change. Tv will not turn off.

tuner/decorder is gone out you would need to purchase a new decorder board for this. Try hooking up something on the scart connections and diagnost the tuner but if it does not change channels and its not turning off you got a problem with the decoder/tuner board.

this would cost around $250 for the replacment.

Gray screen

Try unhooking the LVDS cable from the controller board and see if it does the same thing. If so you need to replace the LCD panel.

Sony KDF-50WE655

your issue is more than likely in the optical assy but make sure its not the lvds cable. when technicians remove the optical assy alot of times they will forget to remove the lvds cable and it ggets damaged.
