Hello,

The temperature controls are located at the top front of the refrigerator or freezer compartments.
The recommended setting should be correct for normal household refrigerator use. The controls are correctly set when milk or juice is as cold as you like and when ice cream is firm.
Wait 24 hours for your refrigerator to completely cool before adding food. If you add food before the refrigerator has completely cooled, your food may spoil.
NOTE: Adjusting the refrigerator and freezer temperature controls to a colder-than-recommended setting will not cool the compartments any faster.
If the temperature is too warm or too cold in the refrigerator or freezer, first check the air vents to be sure they are not blocked before adjusting the controls.
To turn Off/On:
Style 1 Press the freezer down arrow touch pad until a dash (-) appears in both the refrigerator and freezer displays. Neither compartment will cool.
Style 2 Turn the freezer control to the word Off. Neither compartment will cool when the freezer is set to Off.

Energy Saver option (on some models)
The Energy Saver option turns off the heater which helps to reduce moisture on the door hinge seal. The refrigerator uses more energy when Energy Saver is off.
Press the control to On to save energy when the environment is less humid.
Press the control to Off when the environment is warm and more humid, or if you notice moisture on the door hinge seal.

Adjusting controls
If you need to adjust the temperature in either the refrigerator or freezer compartment.
NOTES:
For Style 1 control, press the up and down arrow touch pads; for Style 2 controls, turn the dial to adjust the temperature.
Except when starting the refrigerator, do not adjust either control more than one setting at a time.
Wait 24 hours between adjustments for the temperature to stabilize.

Hope this guideline will helpout.....

Doest seem to be freezing as solid as it should aspecial in door

Hello Linda, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is not freezing properly. This could be an issue with your sealed system (which is compressor, condenser, drier, or tubing) or your control panel. The recommended temperature setting for your freezer is 0°F. It is also possible that this could be a miscommunication within the freezer and I would suggest performing a reset. You can perform a reset by disconnecting the power cord for at least ten minutes. If the reset does not help resolve your problem you need to contact a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. -Matt

I HAVE WHIRLPOOL NO FROST REFRIGERATOR-FREEZER , IT IS NOT COOLING. I WANT TO LOCATE THE DEFROST TIMER PLEASE YOU HELP. THANKS .

Hello,

Depending on model it have a defrsot timer or perhaps a electronic defrost control but they usually will be located in the control panel if you have a knob used to set the tempature and if it has a digital display that you set the temp. by pushing the button on the front it will have a defrsot control and thats not so easy to put into defrost as the timer is.

Please reply with exact model number as found on the label in the fresh food compartment and i will tell you if you have a defrost timer or electronic control

Botttom will not cool but top cools

Do you see frost built up on back wall of freezer if so it is not defrosting and this is what needs to be checked, remove back wall of freezer and check these;
Defrost heater-- it usually is at bottom of the evap. coil, to check it remove wires to it ,use a meter set to the lowest ohms setting and check for somewhere between 10-50 ohms if that is what yours is its good if meter reads OL replace defrost heater

Defrost thermostat-- if clips to the top of the evap. coil and is metallic, round , about the diameter of a quarter with a plastic side with 2 wires coming from it(do not confuse it w.thermister),remove wires and check for ZERO ohms WHEN TESTING IT MUST BE COLD so check it when frost is built up,IF meter reading is OL (WHEN COLD) its the problem

Defrost timer or defrost control if has digital display to show tempature
check timer(it could be anywhere except in freezer) by turning till you hear a click, the defrost heater should come on within 5 minutes if the heater does come on the timer is the problem and needs to be replaced,if the heater does not come on the above mentions parts (heater/t-stat) will be the problem.
defrost control is hard for unskilled lay persons to check SO IF heater and defrost t-stat are good replace control

Hope this helps,

Gene

Set tempature on minus 5 unit doen't shot down runs all the time.

It sounds to me very likely that your thermostat isn't functioning properly. change the settings and wait to see if it responds. If the thermostat is working it should shut down the compressor when you increase (rise) the temperature and aversly start it when you drop the temperature. Always let the unit sit for 3 minutes for the pressure inside to equalize before restarting. Good Luck
