Cannot display image on a proector using Lenovo laptop

I cannot display the image on my Lenovo G400 laptop using a projector.
I already tried to press Fn+F8 and even tried other function keys. It didn't work. Tried restarting pc and projector, nothing happens. I also configured the mobility settings on my laptop but the only thing it can display is my desktop wallpaper. What else do I need to do?
Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems that it's not working on the extended mode. Even if I drag windows, nothing is displayed on it. I even tried to choose clone(duplicate) mode, it didn't display anything at all. By the way, I'm using Vista Home Premium.
I appreciate your help. Thanks. :)

Sounds like an extended desktop. have you tried dragging an open window (ie. internet explorer webpage) to the top, right, bottom, AND left? When you get to one of the edges, move it like you are moving it off and it should move to the other screen. You can change your setting to 'duplicate' your desktop in your video settings.

Ok.I got your point.Actually you're in extended mode.
Once you connect you can have 2 types of output to your projector.
1.Clone mode--> make everthing look the same
2.Extended mode--> have another new space for you to use.
** in extended mode you'll have a background of your desktop.you can drag any running program to that space.

How to setup clone and extended mode
1.Click start-->Settings-->Conteol Panel-->Display
2.Under Display Properties window click the last tab name settings
3.Under display select you 2nd monitor
3.Below Screen Resolution you should be able to see a checkbox "extended my windows destop on to this monitor"
please check this box for extended mode or uncheck it incase you won't to use clone mode.

takecare.

How do i switch to external monitor

Virtually all IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad and ThinkCenter laptops allow you to hook up an additional monitor or projector to the computer. When you add an external monitor or projector to your notebook, you can choose to view the display on the computer, on the external device, or on both the laptop and the external monitor or projector at the same time. Toggling between viewing devices is as simple as pressing a couple of keys on the keyboard.

Shut down the laptop. Plug the VGA monitor cable from the external monitor or projector into the blue VGA port on the back of the computer. Turn on the external monitor or projector first, and then the Lenovo laptop. Allow the notebook to boot into Windows normally. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys at the same time to switch the display from the laptop to the external monitor or projector. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to enable the display on both the laptop and the external display device. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to display screen contents only on the laptop LCD. choose support you need http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54305.html http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4YQHUC.html enable tv out on thinkpad http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58625

Tried projector no work

Connect your projector to your laptop using a VGA cable. Now turn ON your projector and your laptop.

To make your screen projected, look at your function keys (F1 to F12). Look for the icon which looks like a laptop LCD and a TV. It should appear like LCD icon/TV icon. In some model it is in F4 while F3 in Lenovo. Example, you found the icon in F4, just press and hold down the FN key and press F4 to send your desktop image to the projector. This combination is called the "dual monitor" setup which in your case, the second monitor is a digital projector.

My Epson EMP-S4 LCD projector does not display images from my Averatec C3500 laptop. It displays "No signal".. Do i have to press any keys before it would display? I suppose it would automatically project...

When you connect a data projector or external monitor to the external video port on the laptop, power up the data projector or external monitor first then the laptop. The video info will automatically divert to the data projector/external monitor automatically.
If you have already had powered up the laptop first, most laptops will allow you to toggle between the LCD screen and the external video port by pressing the Fn key plus one of the Function keys, this key will have a screen/laptop symbol.

LCD projector not displaying image of the laptop

On that Dell, you have to tell the laptop to display the image on an external unit--look on either F4 or F8--you will find a small TV screen symbol. You have to press and hold "alt" and press the key. The options are, 1-show image on just the laptop, 2-show the image on the laptop *and* something else, (like a projector), or 3-show an image on JUST an external display. NOTE: Sometimes, you have to turn on the projector FIRST, then immediately turn on the laptop so they boot together--just one of those strange things...(remember, **for example** first press of "alt" F4 will get you laptop and projector, second press of "alt F4 will get you JUST the projector, third press of the keys will bring you back to just the laptop)---Rick

Laptop computer connected to projector.

When the projector displays the background image and the lcd displays the desktop as normal you can drag the open windows to the left or right and display them on the projector. it sounds like this laptop has an internal video card. If you right click on the desktop it might give you options to configure the display settings for the video card. Not sure how you will get to it if it does not show up on the right click menu. Probably through the start menu or in the control panel there should be somewhere to change the settings for the video card. This will no be under the display settings though.

But once you find your dual display options you will be able to change it to make both displays the same

Proector image is dim

I have changed the bulb on my LG projector recently. I found the rotating colour wheel to be full of dust. Upon opening the cavity where the light is redirected and reflected onto the imager, I saw all mirrors also had a layer of dust. I don't think it was so dirty that it affected the brightness of the image, but I cleaned it anyway using an earbud. I cleaned both sides of the color wheel as well. You need to be careful in working with the optics of the projector!
