Are you typing that IP address into your web browser? 192.168.1.1 is the default address that the WRT54G uses, so if that's not the right address, then it got changed somewhere along the lines. You can reset your router to set it back to its default settings, which would be 192.168.1.1.

Once you pull up the configuration software in your browser, you may need to log in with the username and password you chose -- otherwise the default username and password are "admin" and "admin".

How to change to upnp

First, access the GUI of your router. Open browser and type 192.168.1.1, type admin for username and password or if you had change it before, use that username and password that you had set up. Once you see the Linksys GUI page, click on Administration on the upper right corner of the screen and click on management, from there you can edit the UPNP settings.

Lost my secure connection for linksys wireless router.my lap top will not acess.i had a tech install this when we first bought it so i am batting in the dark.can you help?

You may need to reconfigure the router. Also when reconfiguring it the computer would need to have ehtenret cord connected from router to pc. You can go into the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in address bar of internet explorer or your web browser. Then for the user id leave it blank and enter admin for password. This should allow you to log in. With in tehre you can create a wireless network under Wireless settings. Also you could check the firmware while in there and go to the link bellow to see if any updates avalible.

Reset the router by pressing the reset button for 5 seconds and reconfigure it. The firmware might need to be reset... Then access the router's GUI by typing the default gateway 192.168.1.1

I need to limit access to my linksys wlan. How do I do it?

Hi Friend,

Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the Internet Explorer and hit enter. Do not type anything in username and type admin in password(only if you have not set the router password).

Now click Access Restrictions tab. Click Enable and restrict the acess according to your need.

Can not connect to internet wireless Installed Linksys but did not work. tried to install again, ask for default info. dont know how to reset router to default settings.

Default settings for the WRT54G can be performed by pressing the
reset button for at least 10 seconds and then release it.

The router can be accessed by opening internet explorer:
type in adres http://192.168.1.1 and enter.
The login for the router default settings is:
user: [leave blank]
password: admin

There are about 10 versions for this type router on the Linksys
support site, "Get Downloads" like manual and firmware :

With Linksys wrt54g v6 I cannot access the setup page - I get window that says management mode firmware upgrade

If the Power LED on your Linksys router is blinking, this means the firmware is corrupted. Since the firmware is corrupted, you won’t be able to access the web-based set up page of the router. Instead, you will be using tftp.exe to update the firmware. We recommend that you perform the following procedure in a Windows-based computer.
Downloading the Firmware

Follow the procedure here:

Router issues

Hi Pzarek,

The first thing that comes to mind is that your Linksys modem is using the same IP address as the router and it's causing a conflict. The quickest way to find out if there is a conflict is to get into the administration setup on the router and manually change the IP address of the router itself (currently it's most likely 192.168.1.1 - change it to 192.168.1.250). Linksys has most of its devices that provide dynamic IPs set to 192.168.1.1 by default so I would suggest that.

To log into the router (assuming you have your computer plugged into the router):

Bring up Internet Explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar.

When it asks for a username/password, type in 'admin' for the username and 'admin' for the password (without the quotes).

You can change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.250 on the first page that comes up.

If you're unable to access the setup, make sure the router is powered up and hold in the Reset button on the back for 30 full seconds. At that point the information provided will allow you to access it.
