I have a E-Machine desktop that will be 3 yrs old this November, ( black Friday). It's operating system is windows X.P. When I turn on the tower the yellow lite stays solid on, and the tower emits approximately 6 beeps in the higher range of sound. The monitor shows nothing, just a black screen. And the KB and my router are not receiving and power. To make sure the KB and the router are functional i hooked them up to my HP notebook and everything was fine . i tried every insert on the tower of the e-machine and the KB and router gets no juice. This particular E-machine is a model T3522 Desktop, and as have stated above, it is a Windows XP. i pray you can help me , thank you, Sincerely, cammy96tears

Ok cammy there are several ways to solve this puzzle of yours.... first off here is a link that will explain the multiple beeps from your computer as follows!

http://www.d-a-l.com/help/general-hardware-issues/12347-beep-code-list.html

and being that your computer beeps 6 times could possibly mean that

6 Beeps 8042 Gate A20 failure Bad CPU or Motherboard

Generally, six beeps means a keyboard controller error. Unplug and replug
your keyboard when computer is off. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad
controller on the motherboard .

Whenever the monitor is turned on, it displays for about 3 seconds and then goes black. what to do? It is only about 3 yrs old

One of three things is the most likely culprit.

1. Onboard video card is either disabled or bad.
2. Cable is bad
3. Monitor is bad.

You can check the last 2 relativly easily by hooking the monitor and cable up to another computer to see if they function. if they don't then first try swapping out the cable (i say this first because its cheaper) then swap out the monitor.

To see if the video card is bad try hooking up a different monitor to the system. If the new monitor is not displaying anything then you most likely will need to put a new video card in the machine.

My computer screen is black after logging in and i cant do anything i have windows vista

Hello

This usually occurs when your RAM is faulty and can actually happen to all computers running many different operating systems. Aside from installing a new operating system to test out the RAM, you can simply switch out your RAM.

Turn off your computer if it is on. If you are experiencing the black screen regularly, there is a good chance that it will not allow you to boot up your computer fully without shutting itself down. If this is the case, your computer is already more than likely off. Remove the power cord from the computer tower.

Remove the screws that hold the PC tower cover in place with a screwdriver. The tower cover usually only comes off on one side, so gently remove the side that is capable, and place it away from the tower. Users with laptops need to remove the RAM panel from the underside of the computer. This gives you access to the RAM for replacing.

Locate the RAM that is attached to the motherboard of your computer. You will see clasps that hold the RAM into place, and you may see more than one stick of RAM. Remove all of the RAM sticks by pushing the clasps away, unhooking the RAM from the motherboard. Click your new, replacement RAM into place, and cover the tower back up with the cover, or replace the laptop RAM panel.

Hook up the power cable or place the battery back in, and power on your computer. You now see that your computer is working without the black screen appearing. If you have more than one stick of RAM, turn the computer off, and remove the power cords and battery. Insert one old RAM stick, and cover the tower back up, replace the power cord or battery, and turn on your computer. Check to make sure it does not present you with the blue screen. One by one, reinsert the old RAM sticks into your computer, and test your computer for stability. Once you are presented with the black screen, remove the last old RAM stick that you inserted, and your screen problems are gone.

Hi,

Assuming that you didn't do a fresh install of windows, Do this:

When the blue screen with the HP Invent logo

appears, press the F10 key on the keyboard. (You

have only a few seconds to press the F10 key
before the normal startup process continue

Then Select Full System Recovery (which will erase whatever you had in computer such as personal files, etc). Pretty much your system will be back as Factory Image

first look for the upgrade of the hardware's inside. like memory and processor. second if that machine is 7 yrs old, please do replace it. coz i believe the hardware's for that is now expensive.

WhEn I turn it on a black screen comes up and says

which operating sys. is in use.
and when do you get a password screen is it before dell logo or is it when you click on your user name.
if it comes before dell logo then it is bios password. and you need to open the tower and reset the bios jumper and if it is windows password and if it is vista you can reset the password.
Here is the process to run Imagex:
1. Boot to the computer using VISTA DVD.
2. Select the option repair my computer.
3. Go to command prompt
4. Go to D: prompt
5. Type Path d:\windows;d:\windows\system32 and press Enter
6. Go to Tools folder using command "cd tools".
7. Use this command Imagex /apply d:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\
This process will take 15 Minutes after that reboot the system. After rebboting we will get OOBE Screen.
We can logon to the system using new username. We can retrieve the data by navigating to old user profile.
How to retrieve the data from the old user profile after using the Imagex procedure :
1. Click Computer
2. Click Local Disk C:
3. Locate Windows.old and double click on the same
4. Click Users
5. Click <username>
Note : <username> would be the login name for which he has forgotten the password
6. Accordingly you can access the files available in the folders Desktop, Favourites, Music, Downloads etc
7. Copy the required files and save it in the desired location
