I have a 1979 Sears gamefisher 7.5 hp outboard motor. I replaced the water pump in the gear housing assembly and now i am just trying to reassemble the whole untit back to the motor again. I cannot seem to get the splines on the drive shaft to match with the hole spline it needs to go into. At least I believe that is the problem because i slide the lower assembly almost completely together and about 1/2 inch from being together it just won't movr in any further. Any suggestions ?

Cane not remove the lower end shaft from motor so I cane replace water pump on 9.9 gamefisher outboard

Tip it upside down and dump seafoam penetrating oil down the shaft. The shaft is seized into the power head.
What I would tell my clients... scrap it and buy a new one.

We replaced the water pump on a 1990 Evinrude 25 hp motor, but it isn't working. Can you help us?

It may look easy in the book but there are a few things that can go out. Such as the key/roll pin that drives the impeller can slip out on assembly. Water tube out of hole or damaged OR pieces of old impeller in it depending on why you needed to replace it. There are more but if you are not a trained tech it may be time to find one.

Coleman outboard overheating

You should change your impeller.
It is located at the top of the gearbox, around the vertical engine shaft.
First, disconnect the gear control. Underneath the steering bracket, you'll see a long nut with a counternut. ( Maybe you'll have to shift FWD or BWD to get better access ). Loosen the counternut 1/4 turn and then turn the long nut up ( 2 open box wrenches 10mm ).
Then remove the 4 bolts holding from lower to upper the gearcase ( just above the anti-cavitation plate )
The gearbox should drop down easily.
Then remove the 4 screws of the waterpump ( top of gearcase, around the long vertical shaft ). Lift the waterpupp housing, you'll get the impeller.
To reassemble the waterpump, grease the cup in the housing with PTFE or silicone grease, and while pushing the housing down over the impeller, rotate the shaft clockwise.
Reassemble all the rest in reverse order.
Check and adjust the gear shifting...

Water circulation (coolant) thru outboard motor

Common problem is the thermostats staying closed. If i remember correctly they should be replaced every year. Water should be spitting out on the upper part of the shaft. Good luck on that fishin'
