Dishes and glassware are not clean after a cylce is done. I do not overload. You can even see lip marks and film on the drinking glasses. The silverware has white film on it. The cups and glasses have food particles in them. I've even tried using the pots and pan cyle on a regular load and they still don't come out clean. I do rinse before putting in the dishwasher. I use Cascade or Palmolive and I use a rinse aid. Model DU850DWGB1.

I have the same problem with Whirlpool DU850DWGB1. How old is this model? It's not cleaning our dishes--film on glassware, silverware has food on it. Do I need a new dishwasher or can this one be fixed. It's also very noisy!

My glassware is coming out cloudy! the dishes are clean but the glasses and some of the stainless steel has a cloudy film Please Help! I am currentyl using a rinse aid and cascade powder detergent It...

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

Whte residue left on glassware and dishes

use a dishwashing cleaning agent in the machine. or some thing the has a grease cutting agent.run this on an empty cycle.
there are times residue grease and oils can accumulate down in the sump area where the water sits and can cause film on the dishes.
this could also be some lime or scale build up for that you can use some C.L.R or any kind of lime and scale remover to clean your machine.
make sure tht that this is done on an empty dishwasher

My dishes come out with cloudy film on them.

From Whirlpool:

*Film is due to either etching or silica film. Silica film is a milky, rainbow-colored deposit and etching is a cloudy film. Sometimes there is a water/chemical reaction with certain types of glassware.
o Silica film and etching are permanent and cannot be removed. Both can occur in any automatic dish washing machine and result from a water/chemical reaction with certain types of glassware. They are caused by some combination of:
+Soft or softened water.
+Alkaline washing solution.
+Insufficient rinsing.
+Dishwasher overloading.
+Heat of drying.
+Long/hot cycles.

To slow the down this process:

*Use a minimum amount of detergent but not less than 1 tablespoon per load.
*Use a liquid rinse aid.
*Under load the dishwasher to allow thorough rinsing.
*Do not use heated drying.
*Wash glasses by hand.

Do the following:

1. do you use a rinse agent
2. clean out the drain.
3. if you have a food disposal, run hot water through it and turn it on to clear it out before you turn on the dishwasher. The dishwasher drains into that sink. If you notice food or dirty water backing up into you sink when the dishwasher is draining, then the sink could have a minor clog and is backing up and being re-sprayed onto your dishes.
Source(s):
Use SANIVAC to clean lime deposits and extend the life of your dishwasher. If you have heavy water.

Run your dishwasher empty and pour in a cup of bleach and a cup of white vinegar to get the residue out.....run a regular cycle.......How hot is your hot water tank set on? The hotter the water the better a dishwasher washes and rinses, be careful it's not to hot as your shower and other sinks also will get this hot water......cut your dish soap down and make sure to use a Jet Rinse Aid. Again, be sure to use a liquid soap, and rinse agent, powders will cause a caustic reaction. Hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Maytag 300 dishwasher won't dry goes through the whole cycle but dishes still wet when done

The most common reason for dishes not drying is a failed heating element. Normally the other symptom of a failed heating element is glassware coming out with a film on them and not really clean.

Please report back what you find, OK?

Spotty, filmy glasses

Even if you are sending it 120 degree water from your hot water heater, if the internal heating element has failed, your will get poor cleaning, including a film on your glassware.
Replacing the heating element will almost certainly fix the problem.
Good Luck!
