Hi,
Is there any error messages appear when you insert the SIM card?.
Try to clean the metal surface of Sim card with a piece of clean cloth and try it again
Try to insert the Sim card using different phone ( If it works. The problem is the phone)
If you can use the simcard using different phone then the sony erickson you are using is locked up to a particular network. so all you have to do is to call your service provider hotline to request for unlocking of the phone.
Thank you for using fixya
Please rate me and give testimonials if ever to continue my assistance

The PIN request is on, this it could be 0000 or 1234 , but if SIM has any other PIN and if the wrong password has been entered for more than three times, you're SIM will get locked, and you'll need PUK to unlock it, both passwords can be found at the plastic carrier frame (credit card size) where your SIM was delivered, if you don't have it, you can request this data to the cell phone company who services your SIM card.
Select Menu > Settings > Security and from the following options:
PIN code request or UPIN code request-to
set the phone to ask for your PIN or UPIN code every time the phone is
switched on. Some SIM cards do not allow the code request to be turned
off.
Security level > Phone-to set the phone to ask for the security code whenever a new SIM card is inserted into the phone. If you select Memory, the phone asks for the security code when the SIM card memory is selected, and you want to change the memory in use.
Access codes-to change the security code (default code is 12345), PIN code, PIN2 code, or restriction password.
1. you will have to go to the phone provider and request that they unlock your phone to use the said "sim" card with that phone they have the software to do so.
Dear dont panic , please try the below options
1.Try resetting the phone settings by removing memory card
2.Try with a different battery (Most of the times the battery leads creates problems)
3.Please try with a different sim card

PUK and PIN are always given by the service provider. So, please contact the helpline of your service provider and get a new PUK. The default PUK is 00000000 (eight zeros). try it before calling helpline. Remember that if you give wrong PUK five time or more then your SIM gets locked and can be opened by the service provider only. Also remember that one tends to forget the password sooner or later, hence you should not use the password at all.
Request for subsidy password means the phone is locked to one particular firm eg Virgin or 02, and you've put a different brand of SIM in it.
Subsidy Password is the same as an Unlock Code.
Suggest you either put a SIM in the phone that's the same phone company as the original and therefore works with a locked phone, or request an unlock code from teh original service provider, or try using 84512461 as a Subsidy Code.
Your phone is asking for a code because it is locked to only work with one phone company.
If your new sim is from a different company, you can request the unlock code from your old company, they may or may not give it to you (tmobile usually does, ATT/Cingular usually doesn't). The other option is to use a unlocking service, you can find plenty on ebay.
If you didn't change phone companies, your new sim card is most likely bad, have your phone company send you another one.
