You should be able to select the subtitles off on the main menu of any DVD you are watching. Nearly all DVD's have the ability to set the audio language.
ok I have got the manual and for parental options it says
The parental option anebles parents to prevent their children from watching inappropriate material on a dvd. It reads the ratings for programming, then denies access to programmnig if the program's rating meets the limitations you selected. In this case, the user will have to enter a 4 digits security password, then press enter button.
The password in my book is forward button, backward button, forward button, backward button.

I hope this helps i need the help line no because my little girls remote does not work with her player.
If other video cards do not have the same issue then it's probably because the HSM card was damaged by inserting it or removing it when the player was turned on. Or you may simply need to reformat the memory of the player or it could be that flashing the firmware of the player could correct the issue.
To format the player follow the instructions listed here; http://digiblue.com/customer-service/faqs/disney/mixmax/06.html
If that doesn't work try the firmware listed here; http://digiblue.com/customer-service/faqs/disney/mixmax/17.html
