Hello, I just bought a "brand new" Brookstone Wafer Thin CD player from ebay. I hooked everything up, turned it on and only the left speaker will work, I tried plugging the cord for the right speaker into the left speaker jack behind the subwoofer AND THEN the right speaker will work. Is the plug-in for the right speaker blown out in the subwoofer or something? How can I fix this? Please help, I really want this thing to work properly! Thank you!

As long as the wires had a clean connection on the right side, that is the proper troubleshooting with the correct answer. If you really want to try to fix it yourself or at least try here you go.I would like to know what kind of jack/hookup there is for this wire. You probably need a solder gun.63/37 is the best solder possible(but don't buy either yet).Disconnect all the wiring (obviously).Turn the player on and off to discharge the capacitors as much as possible. They may still hold a charge, but I've been "bitten" by those and it's no big deal.Unscrew the back. You may have to remove some more screws to inspect the solder on the board to the right channel jack. You may also need some small,I think they're called precision screwdrivers?I don't remember.I bought mine about 20 years ago.If there is a crack in the solder,a bad solder connection,or a break in the circuit line to the jack which is embedded in the board, that might be something. If the circuit connection embedded is broken it's can be fixed, kind of rigged, but not dangerous. You could also talk to ebay and tell them what happened if you don't want to try all this.I do not know their liability policies.Anyhow, please let me know what you end up doing.Good luck!Greg

Brookstone wafer thin cd player

Since it is a wafer thin I have to think it uses a 3.5mm audio jack. These surface mount connector as in Walkmans break all the time. It may just need to be resoldered. I would have to see the unit to be able to determine the real failure

A "wafer-thin CD player" stopped

Hello,

Try cleaning the CD and the lens of your CD player. You should also try different CDs and check if some of them will work.
