Memory card not working

Pentax optio t10 memory card won't work. I brought this memory card just for this camera I have this memory card before with this camerabut now only the built in memroy is working. I have tried to format the memory card serveral times but it still won' t work.

    I didn't know about the tab on the left of the memeory card. Should it be up or down? It is up now but the camera won't let me format it. I keep getting the error message "Memory card error". My daughter tried it in her camera and got the same message.

Its the sd card i had the same prob aparantly u cant use a 4gb one or higher

Not saying it is, but are you absolutely sure its not the camera software itself. Does it have any warranty? Is the card a new card and have you made sure that the TAB on left of SD card is not allowing READ ONLY. The tab flips up allowing the card to be formatted bit like the old floppy disks.

Hi Jesslionbery,

Please try removing the memory card that has been installed in it , if any.

When you remove the memory card make sure it starts.

If the above trick does not work , try using NIMH battery instead of the ones that you have in and check if it works.

Also if you update the firmware of the camera , it may solve your problem, please find this link for more information , as the crashing problem has been resolved for many because of a firmware update.

Pentax Optio T10,comes up with Card Locked, when turned on
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

You may use any SD card up to 2GB in size. Make sure you don't try larger SDHC cards, as they won't work.

It's possible your camera can't use a 4gb card.

The maximum supported memory for Pentax Optio 430 is 256mb and for Pentax Optio 430 RS is 512mb.

Memory card
Hi and welcome to FixYa.

Your camera will not work with an SDHC card. It must be an SD card.
Don't forget to format the card in the camera after you install it. Elsewise it won't work properly.

USB cable problem when transferring
could be a bent pin maybe?
I would just go out and buy a card reader so that you can read the memory card without the cord. and then you wont have to worry about it.
the card reader cost about 20 a new cord would be more.

Pentax Optio T10 turning off immediately
My optio t10 did basically the same thing...turned on, lens goes out, then automatically shut off. I took the advice of a solution listed here for another problem...hit the camera. For whatever reason it worked.
