Model 2100 canister: Red light comes on to indicate bag is full and machine shuts off. The bag is empty...when I readjust bag, machine will start up again but shut down shortly.
Ensure you are using right original bags like ones before. Try also a different bag, in case the bag is defective and not fitting properly into the vacuum. Inspect vacuum and tool for obstruction from dirt inside. If all this does not work, then the canister sensor may be defective. Ensure you are using right original bags like ones before. ok, you need to bypass the auto shut of. Put the vac on it's side and pull off the sliders on both sides.Carefully pull machine apart.lift the front of the piece that hold you bag.Underneathe there is a clear tube plugged in to a round thing on switch area.Simply pull the tube out of the rouind trhing. This will allow you to fillthe bag without shut dow.Just make sure your bag doesn't get too full....Chris
If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.
hi from uk may i suggest you remove cover and the new dust collection bag then if you look in the bag compartment there is a gauze filter fitted usually grey in colour ? at opposite end of compartment where bag connects this gauze filter is the outlet from bag compartment that the air exhales when vac is operating ie as vac **** up dust into bag the bag has microscopic holes that allow sucked up air and dust to collect but keeps dust from passing into bag chamber but allows air to escape thro holes and so enter bag chamber then escapes via the gauze filter to outside of vac hope you follow this ?? now if this filter is blocked/never been cleaned/changed ? then the symptoms of indicator bag full light will come on you can remove and wash filter if it is gauze typ? dry and refit then try vacuuming ? or replace filter they are not expensive usually in pack of 3 in uk DO NOT RUN VAC WITHOUT THIS FILTER FITTED ! or you will have some dust in the room ? hope this helps?
This is exactly the symptom you would expect from a defective bag control valve. The actual control valve sits under the dial on top of the vac and often cracks internally. It can be replaced in about 15 minutes by a good tech with genuine parts from AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair center. You can open the vac front to rear like a **** shell by sliding the bumpers out the front with the bag door open, however you must be careful not to disturb the wiring harness and to mark wiring locations. The body must be carefully realigned for closure. If it is not perfect you will not be able to slide the bumpers back in.
Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age. The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down. To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop
Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac. This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.
The filter for your Electrolux 2100 is located on the rear top of the machine. It is covered by a plastic grill. You simply place your finger in the rear of the plastic grill, push the tab in slightly and lift the grill up to expose the filter. The filter is approximately 4" by 6". It is NOT washable. Most Vac Shops sell replacement filters in addition to them being available at the local Electrolux distributor.
There is no reset button on the 2100. If it shuts down, the indicator lights will tell you why. If it has been overheated, there is a self-resetting switch which will shut the motor down and the light will come on to indicate that particular problem. When you turn the machine off and then back on, it should re-start provided you have given the motor ample time to cool down. This will not solve the problem as to why it overheated in the first place. There are also lights and auto-switches that will control full bag and no bag. The machine will not run with no bag and a full bag will cause it to run for a few seconds and shut off.
Where is the canister sensor on/in the machine, and can I replace it?
