The Kitchenaide microwave starts on its own and displays pan. Unplugged it for over an hour, reset the clock and about 10 minutes later it started up and displayed PAN again. Called one service company here in FL and they said it is probably the motherboard? Can't tell if they know what they are talking about since we found some good repair people and some bad in the last few years. Glitch is they will charge $75.00 just to come over whether they can fix it or not. Any suggestions on the problem? We bought this house 2 years ago and all appliances are kitchen aide and we are not happy with any of them, perhaps kitchenaide is made by some off the wall company of a lesser quality?
Thanks for any help.
July 15, 2013. The same thing just happened to us. Luckily my husband has a sensitive nose. He was awoken at 4AM by the Microwave running on it's own. The handle to open up the microwave was so HOT he had to use a towel to open it. It would NOT shut off. He had to disconnect power to it through the circuits in the basement. This KitchenAid under-cabinet beautiful microwave is now unuseable. We paid alot of money.... and it's just past warranty. Lord knows what wouldn've happened had we been on vacation.... the entire house would've burned down. Pinsey from MinnesotaJuly 15, 2013. The same thing just happened to us. I had the same issue on a 2010 smh9151w samsung microwave after installing it and using it with no problem for 5 days. The second time we unplugged the microwave and turned the circuit breaker off and on we didn't reset the clock on the microwave so the display shows :0 and it has been working for 7 days straight now. Fingers crossed that this is a long term solution. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Well I had the same problem. It made me start unplugging a microwave when it wasn't in use, which is always a plus. When it does the whole 6666 thing, press 5 and then stop/reset. It usually allows me to input what I want after that. Good luck people.
May be a little late, but...
1. Press Power Level button for approx 5 seconds - you get the 12 hour clock
2. Press again for 24 hour clock
3. Set hours using the 10 min and 1 min buttons
4. Press Power level button
5. Set minutes using the 10 min and 1 min buttons
6. Press Power level button
And you are done
