Maybe the laser is bad and need to be replaced. Another way to play Blu-ray on PS3 is rip and convert the Blu-ray movie to common video files to play on PS3. Here's how you can do it: Direct and Indirect Ways to Play Blu Ray on PS3 Respectively

Hi.

It is either firmware or lens problem. In either case the PS will be replaced or repaired for free by Sony, this is considered factory defect.

Contact Sony at the number listed on the PS manual, or see PS3™ | Support online.

About the lens problem, a BRD device with lens issue may be able to read DVD and CD but not BRD.

If you can't get a menu picture from blu ray, check output jacks going from player to tv. if you a picture from blu ray menu, then you may need to clean the lazer eye in blu ray player.

Netflix asks for my E-mail address and password every time. I do not have this problem when I stream to my computer, Before asking for this info, it displays the films I have already seen.

After reading through the specs for your player, it doesn't look like it has a native App for Netflix. It may be using a Blu-ray live interface to get you to Netflix that requires authentication every time.
Sorry :(

Hope this helps.

My ps3 will not read my games , but it will read dvd's

Blu-rays utilise a blue laser within the drive and DVDs use a red laser.
Sounds like the blu-ray/games reading blue laser has died and it'll need replacing.

I put in a blu ray disc but it is not playing in any media player and the disc drives do not recognise that a disc has been entered

Unless the drive in your laptop is a blu-ray drive, it won't recognize a blu-ray disc. A blu-ray drive can recognize and play a regular DVD, but it doesn't work the other way around.

If your computer is indeed fitted with a blu-ray drive, the laser lens may need cleaning. On a laptop, you usually have clear access to the lens with the tray open, so you can try cleaning it with a cotton swab moistened with lens cleaner. Or the disc itself may have a problem. Try another disc and see if the trouble continues.

If the computer doesn't have a blu-ray drive and you will frequently want to play blu-ray discs, get a USB external blu-ray drive. It's easier to find one of those than to locate a suitable blu-ray replacement drive for a laptop. There are many variations of drives used in laptops, but an external drive will always be compatible. And you'll be able to use it with other computers not blu-ray equipped.
