Emachines netbook wireless connection not working

I have a new Emachines 250 netbook running Windows 7 with an Atheros Ethernet card and a Broadcom 801g wlan card. I can see my wireless network, but when I try to connect to it I get a message saying the computer is unable to connect to the network. According to my device manager all my drivers are up to date and I have the latest firmware in my router. Two other machine is the house running XP are connecting with no issue. Does anyone have any idea as to what I need to try next?

Security is WPA2 AES. Is it worth removing this temporarily or changing the type? I've not been asked for the passcode at all when trying to connect. This morning the machine isn't even showing the network on the list of those available locally. They are all secure so I can't connect to them to test whether it will connect to any network.

As it seems you have 2 wireless cards on your laptop. Try to temporarly disable one of them (I preffer to disable the Broadcom). Atheros may came with its own software for establishing a WiFi connection.
About the security, there will be a small icon (a lock) on the available connection. You'll have to click and input somewhere the required username and password for WPA. If dont know this, you can check on the other computer that can establish a connection.

Network Adapter will not work on Startup

Attach a Ethernet cable to the laptop, Open Device Manager, Network Adapters, Uninstall the Wireless adapter, reboot, Allow the software to apply the generic driver, try to connect to wireless network. Post results.

I bought tow eM250 series EMachine (ACER) mini

I also purchased two of these computers. I wiped the HDD and installed Win7 Ultimate. I could not get the wireless NIC driver to install. My solution was to use another wireless USB NIC and use Windows Update, Voila everything was fine. Iam writing this post with one of them. I am somewhat confused by your post referring to a Broadcom NIC. Both of my machines have AtherosAR5B5 wireless network adapters and Atheros AR9132 PCI-e Fast Internet Comtrolers. Broadcom has always meant Bluetooth driver to me, but I may be mistaken about that.

I have always thought of eMachines as being the cheapest in both price and quality but I did a rather extensive investigation on netbooks in general and could not find and justification for spending twice as much for a more popular name brand with basically the same capacities.

I don't know how to do one to one assistance on this site, but if you can figure it out I would be more than willing to help you. I am very pleased with these two netbooks!

Don't know which wireless drivers to be installed in e-machines e725, i am using windows xp. i have tried broadcom, atheros but with no effect

Here are the link for your notebook wifi adpater card

Atheros :       ftp://ftp.emachines.com/notebook/E725/XP/08.%20WLAN_Atheros_V7.6.0.239_XP_WHQL.zip

Broadcom :     ftp://ftp.emachines.com/notebook/E725/XP/08.%20WLAN_Broadcom_V4.170.25.19_WHQL.zip

But  e-machines e725 have network both ethernet & wireless problem with Windows XP with Servicepack 3.it work fine with Windows XP service pack 2 and later on you can install Windows XP service pack 3.

Lan and wireless driver for toshiba a135-s2246

Unfortunately, the Toshiba Satelite A135-S2246 was never designed to run XP, only Vista. Which is why you can't find any drivers for XP. The nearest you can get is to find a laptop running XP SP2 that is using the same LAN (ethernet controller) and WLAN (wireless ethernet controller), and see if they will work.

Here are the drivers I found for XP (please check which one's you are trying to install):

Atheros WiFi card driver:
http://www.wireless-driver.com/download/atheros/2007-7-23/Atheros-ar5bxb6-AR5424-mini-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-Driver-Download.htm

Intel WiFi card driver:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
You will need to search for the card that you have.

LAN (ethernet controller):
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=6&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1
You can pick third or fourth from top depending on your preference.

Please remember that Toshiba, Microsoft, Atheros, Realtek, Intel and especially myself accept no responsibilty for what may, or may not happen when installing drivers not specifically designed for your system. All that said, I hope it works for you.
