What does an E3 reading mean? - DeLonghi DDE40E Dehumidifier

  • Anonymous Aug 03, 2010

    - The unit does not continue working no matter how long I wait for it to defrost. How do I know the problem isn't the condenser assembly ($77.71), the condenser ($9.97) or the humidity sensor ($51.64). Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. E3 error indicates that moisture sensor has failed and should be replaced. The cost to repair this will be around $300 including labor however, prior to replacing the part take the unit apart (only recommended if it’s out of warranty), then check the back of unit and take the filter off. Once this is done clean the sensor (moisture sensor) with a brush and blow some air with the help of hair dryer. There is another sensor which is pushed into a copper tube which is part of the cooling tube; you’ll need to clean this one the same way. All this is only recommended if you have some electrical expertise. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

"E3" code the condensor sensor is bad.It has to be checked and replaced. E3 error message which apparently means the air is working and it has internal frost. It then stops cooling the air and waits for itself to defrost.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

My dehumidifier is showing an E3 on the top and there is no water going in the bucket

E3 is a sensor error and some say cleaning the air intake filter can help. Others say the humidity sensor needs to be replaced.

I have a Blyss WDH316DC dehumidifier with E3 in display. What does this mean?

What E3 Means? This is simply an error code with your dehumidifier please.

It s not clear whether you can attempt to reset your unit or fix it on yoir own. So sorry about this.

It appears yoir unit requires repair by a qualified dehumidifier service technician.

You can exploit the warranty if this is still valid. Simply return to point of purchase with your original receipt

DELONGHI DH300P E3

The E3 Code, indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. Be sure the unit is OFF and unplugged before removing the filter. Filter cleaning should be performed at least once every two weeks, as part of Routine Maintenance.

An E 3 error code comes up and I don't have a manual to determine what the codes mean.

An E3 error code is a Sensor Shutdown Failure. You will need to contact Haier Customer Support for an explanation on which sensor it is and how to solve the problem.

Delonghi Dehumidifier DE500P - Code E3

Hi Thomast5263,
I live in NJ and the nearest center is in CT. So you can imagine that I am not gonna to ship my unit! :-)
The one I got is from Hartford, CT Utility Electric Service: 860-246-7271; talk to Dana and he is very helpful. They charged me $25 and shipped me the part and it now works fine.
When I talked to Dana he sounded pretty sure it was the condensor sensor. Simply call Dana and tell him that you have an "E3" code. I do NOT know the part number or ID.
Don't open the unit until you get the new part ---- it will help you to identify the part to be replaced. After you get the part, make sure you mark down all the screws (they are not the same! so pay attention which one is where). There are two tabs on the top so be careful when get them separate apart ---- don't force it or you might break it. The sensor itself is attached/stuck in between the copper coils under a black cover. Plug another end to the control board and you are done. Apparently there are two kinds of plug-in end ---- the first part Dana shipped to me did not match the old part so he has to send me another one which worked.
The whole procedure is not that difficult, but when you are doing this the first time you just need to be patient to locate all the screws and sparate the covers. From my experience you do need to take all covers off, otherwise you can not see the part and the wire.
Good luck to you and let me know the good news!
