Audio drivers for optiplex dell pentium 3

Dell doesn't have Windows XP drivers on their site. Apparently these shipped with one about 5 different devices, none of which have drivers for Win XP.
I think I would recommend replacing the sound card with a more recent one. You could try using the Windows 2000 drivers, but this is kind of a hinky fix, and it may or may not work. If you want to try this option the driver is here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19
You can find (on ebay, etc.) sound cards that would work fine in the $10-15 range easily.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX1 desktop. I have been unable to start Windows and receive the error message: Windows root system32/ntoskrnl.450L exe failure. How do I correct this problem?

You will have to boot in to repair console from XP cd and run it so it can try to repair the Operating system. Put in cd and restart and if it does not ask to boot to cd u have to change boot order in bios to boot to CD rom first. If all this fails you have to reinstall windows. Hope this helps.

Boot problem with Dell Optiplex GX150

To reinstall Xp from the CD you need to press F2 and go into the BIOS then select the boot order configuration and make the CD the first boot device and the hard disk the second boot device.
After installing XP, if you wish you can go back into the BIOS and change the boot order to boot from the hard disk first.

Contact Dell technical support to get the CD read the partition on your hard drive to restore to factory settings. It won't be able to work without one since it has to boot from the CD in order to get it to work.

Dell system restore

Depending on the operating system, most of the time it is located in the start menu, programs, accessories, then system tools. Restore is a process that takes the computer back to a specific date and time called a checkpoint. Reformat is a process by erasing the entire hard drive and re installing the version of windows you are running.
