If you remove the cover screen and take compressed air or just a brush to clean out all dust and dirt from the motor the fan may run again
Dust is a standard contributor of these fans to quick turning

Husky air compressor motor hums won't start

In a safe manor, when the motor is humming, give one of the pulleys a push to help get the motor started. If the motor runs OK with the help push, the start capacitor is bad. If not the next thing to check is the tank check valve.

If the motor just hums and it will not rotate the drum, you will need to replace the motor. Here is the motor to order.

Motor hums but won't start

Hi,
Most problems with humming motors are with the power input TO the motor (Not enough power to turn the motor)
I'm guessing it is a single phase compressor? If you have it connected to an extension lead, then, if you can, try plugging it directly into the wall, (you can lose vital power through the long lead itself) Second the capacitor attached to the motor could be on its way out or shot. You would need to get it tested, or if you notice anything bulging out of it, then you know it needs replacing. If all the above are ok, then you would need to get the motor itself checked out by an electrician, the bushes or coils are probably gone

Hope that helps

I have a CH 8 gal compressor that won't run. When you turn it on it just hums for a couple of seconds then stops. You hear a click and then your able to turn it on again but it still just hums

Remove the air out line and the motor. Try to turn the motor and the compressor by hand. You have a seized bearing somewhere. Bearings are available at any power transmission shop for a few dollars.

Replaced motor,now won`t spin

Something is locked in the transmission--can you turn the inner tub manually? Also, try to turn the driven pulley (the motor and belt driven). The problem could be anything from a seized bearing to a broken gear. Don't keep trying the motor while things are locked up, you could burn it out.
