Try soaking in hot soapy water that you've dropped several denture cleaning tablets in. That's helped me get some tough stuff off, or at least loosened up enough that some elbow grease and a scrubbie can finish off the job.

Put them in the oven and run the self clean cycle

Oven cleaner. That stuff is second only to industrial grade hydrogen peroxide

Batender's Friend. That stuff is amazing!

Good Luck

Cooktops are in many homes and are a preferred kitchen appliance to many home owners. The Cook in the kitchen can appreciate the stylish look of a sleek radiant smooth top Cooktop . Moreover, having a sharp looking Cooktop addition only compliments the style and design of any high end kitchen. Maintainence and care of such an essential attractive appliance such as a cooktop is important.

Step 1 - Prepare your Cooktop by cleaning the surface*Make sure the surface is cooled* Use a damp rag first and sweep of crumbs and food stuff. Use your favorite cleaner and rinse completely. Careful not to get moisture around knobs or switches. Dry off surface.

Step 2 -- Work on the scratch area
Run the sharp edge of a razor over the scratch around 3x and this will aid in smoothing out any raised ruff edges. Apply gentle pressure to the cooktop scratch area.

Step 3 - Apply A Cooktop Cleaner
Use a few drops of cooktop cleaner to the scratch area. Use a sponge to rub in cleaner. Use circular motions to allow scratch to absorb product. Run the razor edge over scratch again making sure not to apply to much pressure.

Step 4 -- Clean Cooktop surface again and remove cleaning product
Rise off cleaner and dry with a dry paper towel. Inspect scratch to test results. Repeat step 3 until you have desired results.

Special Note* Their are many ceramic cleaning products to choose from and many claim to be the best on the market. Be sure to choose one that has good reviews and then test the results. Special attention must be given to all radiant smooth top cooktops. Be sure to use only cookware that is recommend by the manufacturer. Adjust flame

Do not attempt to do this task yourself, you should call a Gas Safe engineer to solve the problem.

If you have a standing pilot (always lit), the adjustment screw is normally located behind the burner control knobs.

We have a problem with two of the burners on our Bosch hob which refuse to stay lit, at certain times. The problem is confined the front burners (medium size), with the largest and smallest burners which...

Remove the brass burner heads.Remove the Butterfly nut ( in some models just a screw ) and remover the cast iron base.At the narrow end there is a nozzle with a small pin hole which couples with this pipe. Take a fine needle or pin and insert into the small hole and clean. Reassemble and Voila !!!! bobhifi.jpg

What is the best way to clean the cast iron top on the gas cook top? Thank you

Soak in hot water/detergent for about 1 hour - then use a mild abrasive plastic brush... and when done - thinly coat with olive oil or similar.

I cannot get my burners on my stainless steel gas stove top clean

What I would try. Assuming the "burners" means the cast iron assemblies on top of the stainless steel, remove them to an area outside. Perhaps on a piece of plywood, and clean them with oven cleaner. Grease may drip off them, so a deck or driveway are unacceptable. Wear gloves and watch splatters. Wash thoroughly with fresh water before reusing. Beware. Caustic chemicals can discolor stainless

Stained gas range burner grates

Hey y'all. I have the same lame GE profile gas cooktop with the gray grates and burner covers. I know this is the expensive way to go, but I use Easy-Off "self-cleaning oven" oven cleaning spray. For about $5, you get 3 cleanings. It is a pain to do, but I have better things to do than scrub these grates all the time. I don't know why, but the baked on crud just drives me crazy. I tried everything to clean them completely. I even tried to scrub the darn things with a kitchen pumice stone(sold at walmart)but it is impossible to get the curvy areas clean. Now the paint has started to wear off on the burner covers.

I do not use the oven cleaner on the cooktop itself. I use soft-scrub with baking soda, then cover the cooktop with a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil and cut out holes for the burners. This keeps most of the spills contained, and helps with cleanup.

I visited to the GE parts web page, and they only sell gray grates and covers. I am going to buy black BBQ grill paint(spray can)from Home Depot and try it on the burner covers first. They are the least expensive to replace if it fails, and if it works, I will paint the grates with this high temperature paint. I will keep you posted on the results.

Regards,

Laura D.

I have a new Jenn-air ceramic cooktop- what do I do to clean it.

Greases lightning is a great cleaner for cooktops and work great on the grease filter it is sold at most stores. Be careful however when cleaning around the control knobs. They do have a rubber dust cover over each switch but if any fluid drips past it and into the switch it could short out the control.
