Can not get video files from a mini dis dcr dvd 108 handycam when I try to import to my pc it says does not support this dis i was using usb cable to pc with sony's software thanks jim

I don't exactly understand that, sir. I'm another one, who's also troubled with that. The disk is really full, as the camcorder indicates, but when I upload to the computer I just find an empty disk.

First make sure to finalize recorded disc in camcorder, finalization option is available in camcorder menu and will be enable by powering camcorder with AC charger/ adapter.
Now you can transfer movie files in computer or put recorded disc in computer dvd rom and copy files.

If disc was recorded in VR mode, it won't be readable in most dvd players even if finalized. Recorded in VR mode results in only readable in dvd-r capable drives.

I have a sony handy cam DCR - DVD105, I want to know all the ways of being able to connect it to a laptop and extract the files to use in other softwares, like Window's Movie Maker, or Power Direct 09.

How to load Mini DVD to Mac
  • Though Mini DVD can not be played back in Mac slot loading player, we have other ways to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 1 If Mini DVD camcorder has FireWire or USB; just connect the Mini DVD camcorder to Mac using FireWire, or USB to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 2 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB; just shop for external mini-DVD drive that uses either a USB or Firewire connector cable, and then connect the external mini-DVD drive to your Mac and install any extra software that came with it. Insert the mini-DVD into the external drive, and then access the files on the mini-DVD as you normally would to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 3 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB; buy an adapter that converts a mini-DVD to a normal DVD by adding on a circular plastic piece that emulates the full size of a regular DVD. Attach the adapter to the mini-DVD and load it into the Mac's DVD drive to access the files. (Check the specifications of the adapter before purchasing, as several on the market do not work in vertical-loading drives like those found on the MacBook Pro.)
  • Method 4 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB and you don't want to buy a separate external drive or full-size adapter either, but you do have access to a PC, you can transfer the files on the mini-DVD onto the PC, then put them onto a USB flash drive, which will work on your Mac.

Transfer the video from my Mini DV to PC

If you have a dvd recorder, you can hook up the cam to a recorder if it has rca jacks on the end of the cable.
Or if your handycam has a memory card slot, record straight to memory card or transfer memory to memory card, then place it in a computer with an sd memory card slot.

I can't copy from sony handycam mini DV to my computer. it is like the usb cable is not registering as an import option, even though i did the hardware installation

Check the connections. The plugs should be fully inserted in the handycam or its stand. If you are using the stand, then the camera should fit properly on it and the USB streaming switch should be at ON position.

If these are OK, then check the USB cable.

Probably you are aware that you have to use a USB 2.0 port in the PC. If your PC is old and has lower USB ports, then the picture will freeze many times and the import will not be of acceptable quality.

Connecting to computer

i don't know if this a great solution. anytime i tried to port video from the camera to the computer(vista), i couldn't get it to work. i bought a dazzle, but sorry folks i think it's junk. take video, stills and DV to memory stick then read it from there. it works great. i spent alot of time trying diffrent ways and this way is the best. pull you're dvd's from there too. one more thing- lightscribe and label flash are extremely over rated.

How do I upload video clips from my Sony DCR-DVD 108

I understand that you tube uses a different format to the camcorder.
What I do is copy the clip to memory card then plug memory card into a USB card reader & copy movie / photos to your hard disk drive.
then upload them to you tube later.
any problems just email me [email protected]
