Hey - I can't get the name of my contacts to appear when they call or sms - I only get a phone number which is so not helpful! Any ideas on how I can get their name up?? Also, the call history list is numbers and not contact names! Does this have anything to do with contacts being stored on the sim card vs the phone memory?
Ah ha - the prob above has everything to do with phone memory. Once the full contacts from the sim card are transfered to the phone memory the phone history and sms can read the contact name. However, the phone does not automatically sense when a loaded number does not have the +61 country code attached to it, so every single phone number in the contacts needs to have this added so that incoming sms and calls are correctly identified. An interesting experience.

I do not know the barring code for my LG KE970
Problem with the LG KE770 Shine Cellular Phone
I do not know the barring code for my LG KE970 shine cellular phone?
Thanks for posting on fixya and we are pleased to help you at the earliest.
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is on all GSM and UMTS mobile phones.Mobile phone companies can use the number to identify valid subscribers and the type of equipment used. The carrier could thus use the number to remotely disable the phone in the event it is stolen or reported lost and customize data content to be compatible with the type of equipment used, among other things. Steps:Ensure the mobile is powered on.Press the following keys one by one : * # 0 6 #As you press on the last #, a number will appear with the title, IMEI number, or similar. And if you store this *#06# as a phone number in your contacts with some name, say, IMEI code, then next time when you dial IMEI code in your contacts, it will show you the number.
Hope it helps you. Great time. I appreciate your valuable feedback
Hey i have the same phone and had the same problem. The only thing i could do was to call my cell phone previder (at&t) and ask them for the code. they will require the acount info. (name, last name, social security number.) and they will give you the code and let you set up a new one.
you can lock the phone by going into menu then going to settings in the bottom right corner, then go down to number 6 and it will be security, go to lock handset and set when you want it to lock. make sure you know your code is before you do this.
We have a family plan with AT&T and we each have different phones: a Blackberry Pearl, an LG KE770 Shine, a RAZR and a Pantech. All the phones get strong AT&T signals at home except the LG Shine which shows no signal at all. This is true also when we go to different parts of town...all the phones get strong signals except the LG may or may not have a signal. We took it to a service center and they gave us a new SIM card but the problem remains. What could be the problem except the possibility that the LG Shine really sucks?
