Frozen I turned my laptop off and shut it and now it is frozen on the shutting system down page. Can't restart it, can't do anything!! Help

Reset the computer by either holding down the power button till it shuts off or removing the battery manually. When it restarts, allow the computer to do a systems check to make sure the registry and files aren't corrupt.

Reboot is another
name for restart, so
just click into the Start
menu then shut down
then choose restart. If
you are unable to do
that since if the laptop
is frozen push and hold
the power button in for
at least 10 seconds or
until the computer
turns off, then push the
power button again to
turn it back on. This
should only be done if
you are unable to do
anything else.

Something is working in the background stopping the shutdown, try running msconfig, and see if there are any errornous programs running scripts

Press the power button and keep it pressed for about 10 seconds.
It should shut itself down.

try this...

turn on the laptop,,,
keep pressing F8
a menu screen will appear,, select SAFE MODE using the cursor keys and hit enter,,
once it boots in safe mode click no to use system restore..
follow the onscreen instructions to send it back to a date when it did work,,
it will shut it self down and restart in a propper manner..

if that fails,,

when u turn on the laptop it displays a menu,, it shows to press a certin key to enter system recovery,, press that key,,
follow the onscreen instructions to restor the laptop to factory condition..

Please press ctrl+Alt+Del simultaneously and the task manager will be opened up.There you will get the option to shut down.
If the task manager itself is not openeing up then please press and hold the power button for 10 sec and it willlose then you may restart the machine in safe mode and restore it to a previous config.

If nothing else works remove the battery, leave it for 5 mins then replace it and it will start as normal. Yyou will get an error message usually saying it was not shut down correctly and it may do a system scan but unless there is a real problem with it that will restart it. Ive had to do that twice with mine in the last year.

Hold th epower button down on your tower for about 5-10 seconds and it should shut off. Then you can turn it back on. If that doesnt shut it down you can always pull the power cord.

Try removing the batteries to force it to shut down. Wait about 30 seconds, then put the battery back in. This will force the Sansa to restart, after which it should work.
