Hello. Remove the battery and clean the contacts of both the battery and the keyboard with the eraser end of a common pencil. Then reinstall the battery. J.

The solution is to formn a class action suit against DELL for this overpriced piece of junk. I went through 3 of them and they all failed.

DELL left these dogs out there in the market until the warrenties expired on all the M2010 machines and now they will charge you for their failure to build a solid product.

The Bluetooth Access Icon is nowhere to found in the control panel, so the manual is wrong as well.

DELL is acting irresponsble and needs to be punished. Let's form a Class Action Suit today.

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop for which I have just purchased a new 9-cell compatible battery. It worked great for a couple of hours, but now shuts off immediately when unplugged from the AC power supply....

You might want to try what I did when I had a completely discharged battery for my Dell Laptop. I attached the battery to the computer, make sure the computer is off and plug in the charger for a full twenty four hours (undisturbed). And this really worked. I had no problems with the battery. Good luck.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Your power adapter is bad and is not able to charge the battery at all (which is why the battery is dead). Yes, this is common with laptops because of the constant plug in and plug out. Yo can purchase a new adapter for less than $25.00 on eBay. Anywhere else it will cost three times more.

Once you replace the adapter, the battery will get a full charge and you will be up and running again.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will assist.

I have lost sound on my Dell XPS M2010

Yep - this I run into every start up, or every awake session from Standby - the problem is that the default sound device changes - I've gone through the control panel, and put a shortcut to the Sound mechanism in my taskbar - then when it changes, I just modify back to the Speakers/Headphones setting - I usually have to change stations on Pandora, or skip to a new Youtube, but it all works our very quickly.

DELL XPS M140

One of three things, 1- power supply, check your power supply with an ohm meter to see f it's getting the proper output to the machine. If the supply is starving the machine of power the charging system won't work to it's full potential. 2- the power management system on the motherboard, if this system isn't working properly it can divert power from the charging system. If it's just glitched then a bios download or chipset utility download will fix it, if it's malfunctioning, then motherboard replacement is the only option. 3- the battery itself, I have a Dell, and in the past two years, I've ordered two new batteries. The first held a great charge, more than three hours, but only lasted about eight months. The second only holds little more than an hour charge, but has lasted well. Batteries are just funny that way. Start with the power supply test.
