I was given a GE 27GT616 television but can't figure out how to connect a converter box or dvd player

Trial and error. There is no list of products that will work together and how, so when you have situations that come up such as these you have to connect the electronic devices and see what happens. What's worse is that the combination will not always work with the same brands and even if you do get this to work today it might not work tomorrow.
Ok connect the DVD player to the television. Where it says out on the DVD player you connect the connecting cables either yellow, white, and red or green, blue, red, white, red. You connect the other end of them to the television. Put the television on the correct input. Try playing a movie to make sure the dvd player and television are connected properly.
Ok now where it says IN on the DVD player. Connect a yellow, red, and white cable. The other end of that cable connects to the converter box where it says out.
You can also connect the converter box and the dvd player in this way if applicable. If the dvd player has an RF (coax) IN connect a coaxial cable there and connect it to where it says OUT on the converter box.
Then you connect an antenna to where it says ANTENNA IN on the converter box. Now you will have to be able to put your dvd player in input (aux) or turn it to channel 3. You will always leave your dvd player in input (aux) or on channel 3. You will only change channels on the converter box with its remote control or the buttons directly on it. Good luck!

Use a RCA cable put the video in yellow,red,white to the tv.
Use the RCA cable put the video out yellow,red,white to the DVD player.Press the video input 1 or 2 play ur dvd.

what kind of TV? try to be specific as much as possible

The jacks from the player go to the same colored jacks on tv. Then after jacks are connected, tv must be on channel AV or Input. that is the channel used by the jacks.
JUST MATCH UP THE COLORS.

You should connect the dvd player directly to the television and not the converter box.

DVD player may have red, white, (audio) and yellow (video) connections or it will have the red and white connections for audio and then red green blue for video.

Connection depends on the television inputs.

Needs to have the regulator circuit rebuilt... I think for that unit it's p/n 231523 but ask the dustributor to check that before ordering, every suffix version has different kit numbers. Just give the order desk the FULL model number of your Tv..

Your GE TV most likely doesn't have anything but a antenna input on it? If that the case to connect a DVD player you must purchase a RF modulator to convert the video and audio output of a DVD player to a channel 3 or 4 output. Here is a link for one at Radio Shack.

The remote will have an input button on it, this will put it in video mode. Many stores sell RCA / GE replacements, just make sure it has the input button.

The yellow is video and white is audio. On the remote is an input button that will switch the tv to video mode. If you didn't get the remote most stores sell the rca / ge replacement remotes.
