GetDeviceCaps() is a DirectX routine call made by the game engine to check you video card details, what all it is capable of supporting, and after that the game engine takes certain decisions on what all things to initialize for it. If that is failing, it means that the game engine is not able to read your video card properly. In plain language your Video card cannot support the game software.

Chance that there is something wrong with your video drivers. Try to update your Video card drivers to the most current. and also update your DirectX.

If your video card is the problem, upgrade to a better one that can support the game video.

Hopes it helps.

We have tried to run World of Zoo on a Samsung netbook N145 and we get an error of "failed to initialize the rendering engine, the game will now exit" The laptop has an intel graphics card 3150....

Minimum System Requirements
  • Intel Pentium IV processor running at 2 GHz, AMD 64, Core 2 duo 1.6Ghz or equivalent
  • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista
  • 512 MB RAM (1 GB RAM on Vista)
  • 2GB of hard drive space
  • 2X DVD-ROM Drive
  • Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon x1600 with at least 64MB of memory (video cards with Pixel Shader version 1.1 or better are required)
  • DirectX 9.0c and above
  • DirectX-compatible display capable of 800x600 resolution in 16-bit color
  • Sound: 16-bit Sound Blaster Compatible
  • Mouse and Keyboard
Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements. You say you have a 1.66GHz processor and the game requires 2GHz. Also the veideo card is most likely not capable of running the game. Sorry I can't be any more help, I wish I could give you more to go off of.
