Just bought a new philips gogear mp4, how long does it take to charge initially and would the screen be blinking when charge to cpu, because mine does not blink.

there is battery indicator in every chargable instrument. try to find that indicator in your media player. initially it should not take more then 24 hrs to charge the battery fully. if the battery indicator does not blink it seems that battery is fully charged. remove charging & observe how long it works.

I listen to the music for 1 hour. I turn the lock switch off. The next day the Go gear MP3 has completely discharged. I re charge it on the pc. The screen reads 'Fully charged'. The same thing...

There are two things possible.
1) You have defective re chargeable batteries in your GoGear.
2) There is some short circuit because of which the re chargeable cells are discharging.
Either way you should get the system changed. If you want to confirm if its the battery defect or GoGear. Charge the system fully and play music continuously. If the Go Gear plays for about 4 hours with out break---- its not the battery but the charging system.

HD6330 GoGear seems to have a virus

Chris, The reason the gogear shuts down is the battery needs charging. The lead that was supplied when new, was fitted with three plugs on it, one went into a power outlet (AC) one plugged into the base of the player, the last one (USB) into your P.C.
You should also have a CD with Philips device manager on, this needs downloading to your laptop, Windows media player version 10. is the only version Philips recomend for up / downloading music to the player.

Freezes and wont charge

Try repairing the device:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new.

You may have to charge the device fully for 3 or 4 hours AFTER this process is complete.

Battery Problem?

It's possible you damaged the battery but not likely. The ipod has a circuit inside it to prevent overcharging (i.e. it stop scharging when the battery is full).
I would try the five R's at apple's website and then try charging it again and see if it fixes the problem.
See the five R's here:

Samsung YP K3 only lasts for 2 hours

1. totally discharge the battery so it wont come on.

2. Charge the battery fully

3. Reset the player

Now check how long the battery lasts. If it is still 2 hours there is a problem with the battey and you will need to return the player.
