Re-installing the mouse/trackpoint driver then restarting the laptop usually soles this issue.

if you are running windows XP or 2000 then the driver can be found here for free download-
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4KMUYL

if you're running a different version of windows let me know.

Wont recognize mousepad

If it works most of the time but sporadically comes in and out I wonder if the connection between the pad and the motherboard. Depending on the model of the Thinkpad you may be able to pop off the plastic bezel and unseat/reseat the connection and see if it goes away. What model is it?

The right click on myT400 stopped working on both buttons

Its unlikely to be a driver problem but you can check it by plugging in a usb mouse. Not knowing what operating system you are using makes it difficult to fix. You should find the driver in the hardware settings in system. delete them and reboot without the usb mouse plugged in. If it is the driver then the mousepad will be redetected and the driver reloaded. If it works, great, if it does not then a new mousepad will be required.

I cannot get my mouse to work on my IBM laptop thinkPad. Any ideas???

If its a usb mouse then I would try looking around online for a driver for it and downloading and installing this driver.

If its not a usb mouse make sure the computer is turned off when you plug it in.

Arrow wont move

Dear Fayereid01,

You said "I have a dell computer and when I turn it on to the desktop the arrow wont move to go any further its a desktop with a IBM keyboard"

Make sure that the mouse is plugged into the the correct port. If the mouse you are using is a USB mouse then try other USB ports. If it is another type of mouse that uses a different plug, then try all the ports on your computer that it fits into until it works. It sounds unprofessional but it should work.

If none of this works then put in the CD that should of come with you mouse and install the drivers for your mouse. If you cant find the disc for your mouse then go online to the manufacturers website and you should be able to download the drivers there.

Mousepad, right clicker problems on ibm thinkpad t41

you can try looking at the manufacturers website for a driver update to your trackpoint http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-46258.html#mouse

Try turning off the tap to click option. This should resolve accidentally dragging things where they don't need to be.

Better option...if you're using this laptop at home just invest in a wireless mouse and set the laptop to disable the trackpoint when an external mouse is detected.

trackpoint=mousepad=touchpad

Ibm t42 thinkpad turned off touchpad in system tray

Any idea why the USB mouse isn't detected? Is it a Special series of mouse needing software?
Does the laptop have a PS/2 connector, so you can try using an old PS/2 mouse and try with that?

Maybe with some short-keys (like Alt-Esc for the windows Start button), you can reach the software or config application that you used to disable the mousepad...

Try that one, and see if it helps you...
