My Garmin street pilot 3i has stopped receiving satellite reception. It started about a week ago. Since then I've been on the Garmin site and checked for updates, changed the batteries and done a full system reset. None of these things have worked. The unit is just under two years old - any ideas?

Question: Why won't my StreetPilot i-series device acquire satellites?
Same happened to me - try --> Answer: If your StreetPilot i-series unit is having a hard time acquiring satellites we would recommend ensuring that it currently has the most recent version of unit software and then performing a master reset. In order to update your unit to the current version of software you will need to use the Garmin WebUpdater. Here is a link to the page on our website that has the WebUpdater program and instructions on how to use it:
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp
Once your unit has the most up-to-date software, you may need to perform a master reset. To do this follow the steps below:

  1. Start with the device turned off.
  2. Press and hold the arrow button, wheel, and power button simultaneously.
  3. Continue holding these buttons until you see the message, “Do you really want to erase all user data?”
  4. Once this message appears, release all three buttons.
  5. Select ‘Yes’
Note: A master reset will restore your unit to the factory defaults and will erase all of your favorites and recent selections.
Once you have completed these steps, please place your unit outside in an area where it will have a clear view of the sky. The unit may need 15-20 minutes to initially acquire satellites. Once your unit acquire satellites you may continue normal operation.

Battery replacement now ca't find satellite Garmin c320

More than likely when you reinstalled the gps receiver (the board with the wires connected to it) at the top of the receiver you did not position it properly. If it is not positioned properly it will not receive a satellite signal

MY STREET PILOT C330 DOES NOT RECEIVE SIGNAL IN MY 2008 TOYOTA HI

Most likely, the there is something in the construction by shape or dimensions of the vehicle that is attenuating the signal strength. Microwave frequencies such as from satellites can be critical.

If your GPS has an external antenna connection, you can go to a Garmin dealer and get an external antenna kit. This should increase the reception strength.

Just for your interest, the newer models of GPS have improved design of their front end, thus giving better reception. I found this right away when I bought a new GPS.

Try resetting the I5. Hold the left button, the wheel button and the power button down at the same time. Keep holding until the screen say that " Do you really want to erase all user data?" Select Yes and then restart the I5.

Street Pilot problem

Having the same problem. Worked great for a year, and then couldn't connect once, and now never connects. I can never find any satellite and as such is pretty worthless.
